Somebody prangs your car when it's parked and then does a runner? Mrs F. just came home with dirty great dent and smashed headlight on her two month old Fiesta. No sign of the culprit or witnesses. Are we allowed to swear on this forum?

Are we allowed to swear on this forum? A couple of years ago my van was off the road so i had to use my car for work while there i popped out to get some ciggies i parked in the local Tescos and must of been gone no more then 5 mins and as i was walking back towards the car Im thinking the car looks different when got right up to it my bumper & grille were both cracked and scuffed with white paint it became apparent the car opposite had reversed out of there bay and smacked into mine and left i went back into Tescos and spoke to the security about the cctv they said it was not working so i left . I paid just under £400 to get the front end put right. About 3 weeks later i got a letter from my insurer who asked why i had not reported the accident to them or the police I told them what i knew and they said the other side had reported me for going into the rear of their car and causing over £800 worth of damage my insurer was sympathetic but because i had not reported the incident they could not fight it . Thats the only claim i have ever had with motor insurance and my premiums went through the roof i was well p ssed off

Both the police and Insurance company were informed immediatly.

The nerve!Too bad you couldn't catch the bugger. Natt i dont think it would of been a good thing if i had caught them if i had an increase in premiums would of been the last of my worries. When i got the letter from my insurer you could of knocked me down with a feather ....What annoys me the most its my pride joy and is rarely on the road I should sell her realy but i love taking it for a drive on a Sunday it puts a smile on my face

It symptomatic of the extremely high cost of car insurance. People are so scared of losing there no claims bonus because if they do they might not be able to afford to run the car. They don't however think about this applying to the car owner that they've just hit, as it is a no claim, not a no blame bonus. Yes they are bast'ard.

I don't think it's fair to lose the "no claim bonus" when it's not your fault!!!! Mind, the whole bloody system is unfair!!! Donkeys ago, when I split with my ex, I had to get another car, as he' kept "ours"! Anyway, I had to start from scratch, as I was just a named driver, although I drove the dammed thing more than he did!!!! Took me years to build up the full no claims bonus!! I think it should be equal, so if something does happen, at least one won't have to pay the full whack!!! Mind, it's indicative of the whole insurance scam business!!! Quick to take your money, and quick to look for loopholes so they don't have to pay out!!!!

I laugh when i here them roll out statistics claiming uninsured drivers cost insured drivers £30 extra in premiums The insurance companies have all the details of every vehicle in the UK so they must know which ones dont have insurance why dont they ask the police to check them out instead of increasing insured drivers premiums If every one paid their premiums do you realy beleive the insurance companies would give up that £30...Not a cat in hells chance Its Like the claim made by super mkts about shoplifters costing us Ex amount of £s on top of our shopping we only have their word that it costs anything at all....It boils my P

Netto can't claim any extra cost against shop lifting, more people sneak stiff back in than shop lift from there.
