Now there's something I never thought I would discover about someone....................new to reading...............umm! Perhaps he should have started with some of the short story collections before tackling the bigger series of books. Then again I guess if he gets hooked on one story line he will probably want to read some of the others. One thing about GRRM he grabs your attention with his characters and wonderful descriptive detail very quickly. CWL

Or he just wants to read them because there's sex in the series... He definetly captivates you, characters having their own chapters isn't a guarantee that the character will live through an entire book either. This give it a bigger tension when a mani character is in a dangerous situation. The first book I read was Wyrd Sister by Terry Pratchett... in Swedish.... what a waste of his books when not reading them in English.

I always liked Michael Caine as an actor and as an interview object on chatshows but having ploughed through his autobiography (From Elephant to Hollywood)i must confess to being most disappointed. 300 pages of namedropping and drivel. Bought at airport for halfprice and now I know why. Give it a wide berth folks.

Howay Natt! You can't say A without saying B. What's it about? Is that a gaupa or dverv in your avatar?

Not sure what a dverv is but it is a lodjur as we call it here... or a gaupa as you say.
I haven't gotten so far in the plot yet to be able to tell yet. It will be a fantasyish and adventurish story I think... we'll see...

The writing is progressing a bit slowly... think I am putting too much pressure on me to make it good.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the Kindle? I don't fancy one myself as I love a "real" book, but people who have them, seem to rave about them!!! I'm reading The Templar's Quest by C M Palov just now.

They are good Ann I have one, you don't need a book marker either as whatever page you finished reading it automatically opens up at that page next time. You can also download free books off Amazon and Google.

They sound good, Roma...wouldn't mind one myself.....an amazing resource. Reading three books at the minute......."The Wall" by Jean Paul Sartre......short stories. Selected stories by Julian Maclaren-Ross and "The Death of Eli Gold" by David Baddiel. Oh and the "Rambling Story by Several Authors" on here! ;D

You can also alter the size of print to suit yourself. I've just finished reading The Alchemist Secret, it was a good read.

Yes, it is a good book Roma - my type of book!! I've read all Scott Mariani's books, the next in the series is "The Mozart Conspiracy" then "The Doomsday Prophecy" "The Heretic's Treasure", "The Shadow Project" then "the Lost Relic". You don't have to read then in order as they are all "stand alone" novels, but I get them as they come out I'm reading "The Jefferson Key" by Steve Berry just now, same sort of genre as the above.

Never read any of Steve Berry's books, I'll keep my eye open for them.
