I didnt like much of his stories writing as Bachman apart from The Long Walk in the Bachman Books.I couldnt finish "Thinner" and its rare for me not to finish a book or story.
I did quite enjoy "The Talisman"-co-written with Peter Straub but then again I like some of Straubs books too.Koko is another favorite of mine written by Peeter Straub-Ive read it over and over but still love it.

It was dreadful Ann I find that some writers become sort of famous then the books start to seem more rushed and less well thought out.I'm starting to find this a bit with James Pattersons books too-the last couple definitely werent as good as the earlier ones IMO.

I've noticed that Patterson's books, with the exception of the Alex Cross series have,of late, been collaborations with up and coming authors. It is, apparently Patterson's way of giving new authors a chance and could explain the mediocrity of some of the books. In any case it is decent of him to lend his name in this way. IMO.

I thought I might as well promote my sister's book on here. Its called "The Crocodile Handbag" by Margaret Le Hanie and was published by Minerva Press in 1999, ISBN 9780754107569. Its the only book she's written and is roughly the story of our family's life from about 1850 onwards. Everyone who has read it has liked it and it should be in local libraries. Good (I know I'm biased!) and easy reading. Try it!

Roma, I'm sure you'll like it, most people who have read it say that the only problem is, is that its too short...she could have written a lot more. It reads a bit like a true Catherine Cookson novel and reflects many, many similar families, especially as it takes place in the north east.

Whats everyone reading at present? I know not everyone has a book "on the go" but anyway, heres mine which was given to me by a neighbour on "National Book Day"....I think it was called that. When I'm finished it I'll pass it on to someone when we have one of our "Meets", then they can pass it on.....each book has a code so they can see where it eventually ends up.....something like that....again! Anyway, the book is "The Life of Pi" by Yann Martel and its a great book, apart from maybe a few chapters at the beginning.
