I'm sorry Ann but the idea that are heading for any sort of energy crisis is just silly. Firstly we have the means to generate unimaginable amounts of power with nuclear energy and hydrogen power which they estimate one bathtub full of water will produce enough electricity to supply one human with all their energy needs for 33 years.
Add to this such things as hydroelectricity, solar power, geothermal energy and others I've mentioned in previous post. As for over population this is mostly due to a lack of investment. There is more than enough fertile land on the planet to feed us all (even me!) but we simply import it from poor nations because it's cheaper. If you consider the vast swathes of land in the United States, Canada, South America and even the land we don't use in the UK we could produce enough food to feed everyone.
You hit the nail on the head when you said it was all because of money. Why bother with being a humanitarian? To me I think it's common sense. Make Britain self sufficient regarding food production, energy production, electronics. That is what will make us a powerful and wealthy nation again... Unlike at the moment, because we're like one of this people who say 'I just bough a new hand bag for £400' but in private can't afford their heating or whatnot.

Aye, it's alright saying we can build windfarms etc, and use all the land to grow things, but have you ever seen what happens when anyone proposes anything like that? You get the NIMBY'S out in force!! Everyone want cheap leccie and have a mobile phone, but no one wants the windmills and masts anywhere near where they live!

Theres one problem.
If we use all available space for food production and housing in all likely hood we'll all die.
We do all need oxygen and chopping down everything in our path might become problematic.
The world is not ours to rape constantly and in all fairness we tip the balance of nature at our peril.

Not sure how accurate this is, however I once read somewhere that more oxygen is produced by plankton than anything else on the Planet. Destroy the oceans and we are in deep sh1t............ CWL

More than likely CWL. And the coral reefs are dying-we pump sewage into the sea and the Fukushima plant is leaking radioactive material into the water

Surprise surprise the coalition aircraft have wiped out a rebel convoy 12 people dead. I thought these aircraft were supposed to be hitting Gaddafi's armour not pickup trucks and cars the fact that it was at night is no excuse these pilots are supposed to be trained to cope.... no matter what the conditions

I wish these people (rebels & Gaddaffi forces) would not have this crazy way of shooting up in the air when excited, celebrating etc......its reported that that had something to do with them being attacked. However, a bad deal all round, especially as an ambulance, medical people were some of the victims.

Terrible stories coming from the Ivory Coast also Over a thousand massacred and nothing like the response Libya got.I was watching William Hague being interviewed this morning and its the usual mealy mouthed stuff-condemning the slaughter and urging those involved to excercise restraint-I dont think thats gonna do much good myself. I know its not going to be possible for us to intervene in every crisis but as usual those that we do decide to get involved in always seem to have a common theme and humanitarian reasons seem very low on the list of reasons. Just get tired of hearing the same rubbish being regurgitated by politicians-we all know why we're in Libya and Im sick of being treated like an idiot

The government seem to forget that we are the boss. They should check with us before they do anything outside of their usual remit, as any person in any employment would have to do. We are indeed being treated like idiots.

Problem is when you are bombing theres always gonna be collateral damage-god I hate that phrase Look at the numbers of civilian casualties in Afghanistan. It was only a matter of time Spot on Shads...........Unfortunately "collateral damage " is part and parcel of ANY conflict!! Sorry Nick, as much as I sympathise with what you say regarding the rebel convoy that was "inadvertently hit".......unfortunately they are, in the main, poorly trained with little military experience and because of this when they heard the sound of aircraft overhead, they (rebels) simply opened fire! This had the effect of giving the NATO aircrews their one true justification for opening "return" fire.........being shot At = right to shoot back!! We have since learned that some trigger-happy rebel actually shot at "coalition" aircraft, hence the supposition that an "enemy" unit was in the area!!This from the rebels themselves!! Trouble is, this simply opens the door for "boots on the ground" to "train" said rebels! Believe me, the "precision" strike footage that you see on tv IS genuine!! The likes of Brimstone and Storm Shadow mentioned on the news are the latest "state of the art" guided weapons.........even if there was a malfunction these weapons are designed to reduce "collateral damage" to an absolute minimum!!! The latest cruise missiles can literally find your back garden when launched from say 100 miles away!!
