Thought this merited its own thread. See Americas getting involved now they've evacuated their citizens and I wonder why? Concern for human rights or an eye on the black gold?Forgive my being a cynic but I know which one my moneys on

an article in one paper said the Libya situation could send oil prices up meaning an increase at the pumps, another article said the current oil prices could end up sending us into another recession.

We are reaping what we sowed.
We dealt with these dictators for years in order to get oil from them and human rights issues were never an issue-my god we even sold them arms and now we see the consequences.Saddam was once our ally until he decided to sell oil not by the dollar.

Cameron's in Egypt, has anyone really learned anything? Or can nobody allegedly afford principles any more?
Are Gadaffi and Fatima Whitbread the same person? They look just like each other - and you never see them together. ;D ;D ;D

Personally i feel this has nothing to do with the selling of arms to Libya or anyone else for that matter i cant remember an outcry when the Argies were sinking our ships with French Exocet missiles . The only reason this subject is being brought up is because Gaddafi is using them against his own people....I wonder if there is such an outcry in other countries who have supplied Libya over the years and again i wonder if there was an outcry in the USA when the British were using American rubber bullets against the Irish during the troubles there.

The west is only concerned with two things: The constant flow of the importation of oil, and the export of arms. Everything else is secondary

We go where the most profit can be made and support whatever government is in place to secure our own profits. While 'we the people' start to decide on alternative uses of our money, ie fair trade goods and banks that "never knowingly " support oppressive goverments. Our very own government representatives are supporting the arms trade. We also support companies here in this country, that supplies the medication used for putting USA prisoners to death. But hey why worry about that, when the same company is paying taxes? That just about puts us at the same level as your local drug dealer- no scruples, no values about the age of the person you are dealing to or how it will affect anyone. The governement is up s * * t creek, the paddle- is any other government who can help us out, regardless of the wider impact on other people. The current government are prepared to bend over and be f * * * * d just to save being f * * * *d by eveyone else. They dont ask us how we want our a * * es sold, do they?

Anyone see his interview with Jeremy Bowen last night? He's delusional, and thinks all the people love him!! Bowen asked him about the protesters, and he asked what protesters? I think the only way he will go is feet first!!!

Once they got what they wanted they turned on the west and the rest is history I dont beleive it when it came to the government getting our people out of Libya they dragged their feet. But they are bending over backwards to help Tunisia repatriate Egyptians who managed to escape the Libyan crisis by laying on aircraft to take them back to Egypt
