Sending a sniper might not be that easy. Saddam Hussein had many lookalikes and I should imagine Gadaffi will have the same. So you can't be sure if you've shot him or not. If there are many Gadaffi lookalikes it just proves there are allot of ugly people in Libya. ;D

Which just shows how "useful" UN rules are!! If anyone chooses to ignore them, we do nothing, in fact we continue to sell them arms!!!! Knowing what the bugger is like - never let Human rights get in the way of commercial interests!!!! I don't know why they don't send in a sniper and just take him out!!!! Mind, what happens afterwards god knows! Libya is a "tribal" country in a way that Egypt isn't. What a surprise, he's using civilians as "human shields", knowing we won't bomb them!!!! I remember someone else doing that, they still used missiles and went in..................the rest is history! Although some are still living with the consequences more than others. CWL

And whilst we watch what is happening in Libya the unrest is increasing in Yemen and Syria. In Yemen security forces opened fire on protesters on Friday and killed dozens.Tanks and armoured vehicles are patrolling the streets. And three army commanders have joined the rebels in protest. Wonder if the coalition will be taking any action here?

I know what you mean Milky, but the others would be "collateral damage"!!! Cameron will have a hell of a job convincing people that this country is broke now mind!!!!! We can't afford to keep libraries open, care for the elderly, free tuition etc etc, but we can afford to mobilize the troops, using missiles that cost god knows how much, along with all the other hardware, bearing in mind how much Afghanistan is costing as well!!

Nick, just intrigued that someone you know would say that although obviously not being specific about which countries they are refering to. If their job depends upon not being identified then I can understand the comment may have been given in confidence. The Middle East is rife with trouble yet to be fully resolved and now North Africa along with some of the Arab States are also in turmoil. Does beg the question is this because the people really want democracy when all is said and done or is there another factor involved like a power struggle between different religous groups or political factions, or is this just the major World powers taking advantage? Certainly not a healthy situation either politically nor economically for the World at this time with some nations facing up to natural disasters, others suffering slumps in monetary recovery, rising unemployment and the prospect of continuing depression in global markets. A lot going on in our World.............hard to keep track of it all! CWL

So only 2 Arab countries support the UN action the rest have withdrawn their support as they beleive the action being taken against Libya is not what they agreed to.

I also find it very worrying to see the disagreement between ministers and service personnel as to what is and isnt permissible. And the fact that there doesnt seem to be any sort of coherent exit strategy

And the fact that there doesnt seem to be any sort of coherent exit strategy Shads if the UN had done what they said they were going to do keep Gaddafi's Air Force on the ground instead of chasing tank columns they wouldn't need an exit strategy. Within a day of action the Arab suport which Cameron said was vital has dwindled to 2 countries UAE & Yemen. Lets see how long it is before we see troops on the ground The western governments & the UN are a bunch of lying hypocrites

Shads the exit strategy for the UN is to turn it's back on the whole thing and let Gadaffi carry on killing anyone that opposes him. CWL
