Newcastle United are back in Lancashire again for a visit to Ewood Park on Wednesday evening, to face Blackburn Rovers.
Last season this game produced a 0 - 0 draw even though The Toon dominated the game for long periods.
The most recent encounter between these two sides at Ewood Park was earlier this season, as Rovers squeezed past their rivals by a 4 - 3 scoreline in the League Cup.
That said Blackburn's home form is poor, winning just two of the last six, and losing the other four. Ten goals have been both scored and conceded in this period. Mind you The Toon's away form is none too clever at the moment either, with one victory and one draw from their last six played. While the Mags have hit eight goals, fourteen have been put past Tim Krul in reply.
Much may depend upon what team is selected from a depleted squad as manager APee has quite a few issues to sort throughout the side. Colo with his recent injury is still suspect to play in central defence. Cabaye may now be out through suspension following the defeat at Brighton. Meanwhile quite who will play up front depends on whether Ba and Cisse have returned in time from the ACN. Should they not have made it then I suspect it will be Best and Shola again which doesn't exactly inspire confidence in a goal glut for The Toon.
Blackburn Rovers are stuck down in the relegation zone with a return of just 18 points from their 22 games. While Newcastle are sixth in the Premier League table, picking up 36 points from their 22 games so far.
Even though The Toon have managed to acquire twice the number of points as their oponents I see this as being a close fought affair with possibly one goal deciding it in either teams favour.
What do you think will happen?
