Yeah, I think it was the way Fulham carved us open that made me think that was the way to attack, using a more direct method rather than using two imobile forwards. The through ball played by Lovenkrands was a perfect illustration of that. I realise things will change with Ba and Cisse in the team but they are not comparable with the way we have played while Ba has been away. The important thing is we have kept our position in the league that is a huge step forward hopefully it will continue against Villa. ATB Too true Captain and this after having played against all the supposedly toughest teams and losing two of our best players to ACoN. No-one believed it possible beforehand - why do I have a sneaking feeling that someone (guess who) will pop up and say "I told you so" ? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ATB

The important thing is we have kept our position in the league that is a huge step forward hopefully it will continue against Villa. ATB I genuinely believe APee selected a side he thought would get something from the Fulham game. However, as with one or two others such as Norwich away and the Baggies at Home it wasn't our day. It will be interesting to see Ba and Cisse up against Villa's back four as Dunne, Collins and Cuellar their centre backs are all big lads but not quick. Bestie trys hard, but that is about it and Stroller will always frustrate because of the way he plays. Neither of them are the future for The Toon, but to a degree will do a job when asked. The same can be said for some of the midfield lads. One thing for sure I would take being top six any day before a relegation dog fight or playing pretty but ineffective football. The major difference with the current side from some I have seen at the Toon is these lads all work hard for each other. Despite not necessarily being that good individually. The teams relative success is down to the sum of the parts not the individual components. It's perhaps why Hatem struggles to make his mark. CWL
