It appears the Head of Light Entertainment at Sky likes the Toon soap so much they have been selected for TV coverage in the 2nd Round. The Carling Cup Second draw gave the Magpies an away trip to Glanford Park, home of League One Scunthorpe United, and that tie is now confirmed as a 7.45pm kick-off on Thursday August 25th, live on Sky Sports. More pain to endure should we lose.................. CWL

Any thoughts on what side APee will put out against The Iron on Thursday..................? One or two younger players that I believed would get a game have now gone out on loan so this may be a stronger side than I expected to play. Certainly plenty of fringe players should be involved............ CWL

Doesn't looks as if anyone has been on here tonight. However thanks to a great goal keeping performance from Tim Krul. Then a get out of jail card free from Sammy Ameobi we are through to the next round. Final score Iron 1 - 2 Toon.............after extra time. Now for the draw come Saturday.................... let's hope it's kind. Got to be in it to win it! CWL

Can't say we were that convincing yesterday. Throughly outplayed in the first half. Ba looks like a new (Shola) Ameobi and Løvenkrands, Gosling and Best couldn't hit the goal. A new striker is a must but will we see one? Simpson and Taylor didn't look very convincing either. Krul had a couple of very bad kicks but otherwise we have him to thank for the victory.
Would be interesting to see if Sammyobi or Vuckic will get a few minutes against Fulham.

A kind draw you say? - We are going to need it , this was a League 1 side. Thank the gods for Krul. Striker in is a must - 7 days and counting As to SammiAmeeobi, the commentators mentioned it at some point but I'd already been thinking for a while "When the hell did we sign Paulo Wanchop?" ;D VUckic put in a decent performance as well IMO.

Sammy reminds me a bit of the promise Shola showed when he was young.
