Having returned home after recharging the old batteries it's pretty clear not a lot has happened on the transfer front regarding The Toon. That said some of those players fans may well have welcomed at SJP as worthwhile additions (Bony anyone?) appear to have already joined other Clubs. Mainly because balking at fees has become the norm at Gallowgate Towers over more than one transfer window, so nowt new there. As for any other potential targets on the list well most appear to be linked with a move only in media circles. The never ending will he won't he saga of Bent from Aston Villa being a perfect example. Then just for good measure there's a number of mystery players (usually French) which Newcastle are set to sign. No names but they are out there....well somewhere over there! So following their holidays the talks between APee and Joe (I'm Fecking Here) Kinnear continue as the Club moves into week three of this window. Quite how long those talks will continue for until as The Capt'n mentioned in his thread some kind of action is taken remains as with certain players, a mystery. From a supporters perspective there doesn't appear to be much urgency about them, but once again under wor Mikey's tenure nowt new in that either. Had quite a few people ask me over the last three weeks or so will I still be following The Toon this season? My answer has in every instance been yes, although quite truthfully it may be my last actually attending games. This coming season I believe is pivotal regarding not just my continuing attendance at games, but that of many other supporters I know. No longer does our most benevolent owner get off free (if he ever did in my way of thinking) regarding ambition for NUFC. Our new Director of Football needs to cut to the chase, put his ego on the shelf and work tirelessly to bring in the necessary quality additions the squad so clearly needs. The Manager must learn from the errors in judgement made last season and get the best out of the players available to him. The players themselves must hit the ground running from day one, show just what it is to pull on the shirt and bust a gut every game to win points. Anything less is an insult and this time round even I will not tolerate mindless babble or lame excuses from any of them. Collective success or failure, which will it be? Lights Oot!

Good to hear Haris Vukic has fully recovered from his cruciate problem, I've liked what I've seen of the lad to date but he's been blighted with injuries Young Paul Dummet getting MoM from Pards too, it's all good....... Be interesting to see if our "recruitment team" can get a striker or two over the line soon!!

Leazes, I'm getting very fed up of hearing that 'over the line' comment. Hells teeth you will be next using the good old 'it's like signing a new player' regarding Vuckic, although I too am very glad the lad is back playing. What I really want is for him to force his way into the side and play twenty or so games for The Toon this season. Lights Oot!

Well it certainly is a pleasure to see the Footie stalwart back from his hiatus. Trying to get any news from the Ronnie Grill website is ridiculous. The page takes forever to load and when you do finally get to the sports section pop videos show all the clubs that have transfers in already. Hey WL did you nick that Joe Fleckin er from a U-tube video I saw with some clever lads singing I'm F*ckin er? Mind you I'd never accuse you of plagiarism. Mind yer karmas lads this tread may bring Wor Canny oot of self imposed exile ;D

Lights Oot! My sentiments exactly WL!!! He looks a real catch and apparently was looking sharp against Motherwell..........I for one would "love it" if he could storm into the senior squad..........and stay off the treatment table

Whatever that line is that APee among others keeps banging on about it's a barrier too far for some to cross. The latest none arrival being Joe (Feck) Kinhere's pal Mackem Mick Harford. Six weeks or more at NUFC and still done jack s**t. Apparently Harford has decided to turn down the job offer from his former Boss backed by NUFC's most benevolent owner. Probably thought it was better to be disliked at Milwall rather than up here... Anyone know JFK's mobile number.......I'm more than happy to become his assistant. My CV includes such things as Life Long supporter, know the area, contacts in grassroots football, not currently doing much so free to start immediately, can spot a decent player on FIFA 13, able to negotiate transfers of Match Attack cards and last but not least capable of winding almost anyone up if required. Lights Oot!

Lights Oot! Sorry mate but as impressive as yer wind up skills are you lack criteria and other qualities needed for Joe's ass. You are not Cockney or mackem, the supporters might actually like you. You are knot able to call up any PL manger on the phone and get advice on a player or even discuss a trade with the likes of Sir Alex and such. Wasn't it him who got us Obertain? Also you probably do know all the players names something that has little value to Joe. People with actual football knowledge should be dissuaded from working in the insane asylum on the hill. Sorry WL, we need yer skills here more.........so throw another Kebab on the Barbie and move on.

Looks as though another target may be falling by the wayside according to a number of sources this morning. Here's a taste of what is being said from Telegraph Sport. Newcastle have withdrawn from negotiations to sign striker Bafetimbi Gomis after Lyon rejected their latest offer. However, the bid remains on the table with a game of brinkmanship unfolding, with the start of the new season fast approaching. Newcastle are understood to have offered in the region of £7million for a player who has a year remaining on his contract, but Lyon are attempting to extract significantly more. But owner Mike Ashley has proved famously stubborn on contract negotiation over the years and the chances of him acceding to the French club's demands seem remote. Reports from France claiming that Newcastle have pulled back were confirmed by sources on Tyneside this morning, and the news will come as a further frustration for manager Alan Pardew, who is still waiting for new director of football Joe Kinnear to make a first breakthrough since his appointment. The Magpies are the only Premier League club yet to make a senior signing this summer with their opening league fixture at Manchester City just three weeks away this evening. Kinnear had signalled his intention to bring players in within days of his arrival, but having effectively taken over former managing director Derek Llambias' role on the transfer front, he is yet to deliver. Strikers have been Pardew's priority throughout the closed season with Gomis and Aston Villa's Darren Bent high on his wish-list. He has also been linked with QPR's Loic Remy, who opted to join Rangers rather than Newcastle in January with the Magpies initially believing they had got their man. The resolution of Papiss Cisse's situation - he had initially refused to wear the name of new sponsor Wonga on his kit - means he will now return to the fold with Shola Ameobi, who scored the only goal in yesterday's 1-0 win at Blackpool, having had to hold the fort to date during pre-season. The current situation will do little to placate fans furious at Kinnear's appointment in the first place and the lack of transfer activity since after last season's difficulties, which saw the club flirt with relegation until the final few weeks of the campaign. Just about sums things up I reckon.....unless we suddenly sign the line we appear unable to get over to help out the back four! Lights Oot!

Nicked this from the Ronnie Grill
"United are likely to field a two-man attack at St Mirren but Shola Ameobi is likely to be rested with a dead leg".
Was just wondering when either was alive..................FFS ;D ;D

On waking this morning I trawled through the usual variety of media reports involving The Toon and have come up with the following thoughts. Does the list of strikers targeted by NUFC only consist of three bloody names? In the words of JFK Bent's agent should be told to Feck off and get his client to sign for Fulham if it's such a good option after Villa! Still life in the Remy deal, but it can only be a loan until his court case is sorted. Once again JFK needs to get a clear statement out of 'Appy Arry' and QPR or tell them to Feck off! For me the Gomis transfer is all about brinkmanship as our most benevolent owner will not pay over the odds now a prescribed limit has been reached. Of them all I believe this is the player Newcastle are most likely to sign before the window closes. Which brings me back to that striker list and who else is on it? Who do you think The Toon should go after? Lights Oot!

That fleckin FCB probably thinks if we can get "dead leg" Shola off the "Michael Owen Memorial Training Table" with his dead leg we'll be fine and it will cost him knot. All the rest of this is a dog and pony show FFS
