I've 3 stents - two of which are 5 years old and one which is two years old. I'm as sprightly as puppy these days i am ;D The biggest problem is remembering to take all the tablets at the right time.

What's a stent??? Its a metal stent they put in to your arterys then open them up to give them more blood to your heart.

Really reassuring to read the posts on here Like Ann I'd never heard of a stent until two weeks ago let alone spoken to some-one who had had the procedure My mams still holed up in the QE right now waiting for a free bed-but its great to hear from people with experience of this. And how weird is this?Shes having three put in too-but all in an artery at the back. She has a blocked vessel at the front but somehow other minor blood vessels have managed to bypass it-as the doctor said-the body did its own bypass op Thanks guys-its making me alot more optimistic reading your posts xxx

At the risk of boring everybody to kingdomcome I can tell you that in op number one they went in through my wrist and inserted a camera on a tube into the artery and pushed it all the way up to the heart. Next another tube with a tiny little balloon which they then inflated to open the artery and finally the stent to keep the artery open. Second time they performed the same procedure but entered via the groin. Kinky doctor methinks It was amazing to see the arteries open and the blood start to flow again on the little TV monitor. Anyone remember the film Fantastic Voyage? ;D
