When it comes to the Football rumour mill the WWW takes on a whole new dimension of insanity... They all incorporate the same words as well, such as, various sources or reports, a source close to the Club, Player, Agent etc. etc. etc. Without one single genuine believable quote to back it up. So not content with linking The Toon to 31 year old Brede Hangeland yesterday, it appears today Newcastle are favourites to sign Manchester City defender Kolo Toure who will be out of contract in the summer. Now this guy is also 31, struggling to get a place in the Citeh side, probably on obscene wages and will be 32 when his contract ends. Ask yourself do you really see him being a target of NUFC under Mikey? WL

Another day and another rumour.... Now I expect many of you out there had thoughts about The Toon signing a defender during the last transfer window. At least an additional centre back or the much needed fullback to strengthen the squad. As we all now know neither arrived, but that fact appears to have only stirred up the imagination of the rumour mill. So today we have another potential recruit in the form of, according to reports coming from Italy of all places, Ajax central defender Niklas Moisander. Now I like to think I'm pretty clued up on all things regarding The Toon, although some of my fellow Mags reckon I'm simply clueless. However I digress, but on reading of NUFC's interest in this player my immediate reaction was, who? Well he is 27 years old, the Finnish captain and only joined the Dutch club in the summer transfer window. He was signed for €4m as a replacement for another one of our reported targets Jan Vertonghen who was eventually sold to Premier League side Spurs. He’s made five appearances and scored three goals since joining Ajax in August. It’s also not the first time that Moisander has played for Ajax. He had a three-year spell at the club when he joined from Turun Palloseura in 2003. However, he never actually made a senior appearance for the team during that time. He moved on and rebuilt his career and reputation at FC Zwolle and AZ Alkmaar. He clearly impressed, because Ajax wanted their man back. He is also playing Champions League football with Ajax so it does make me wonder a bit why exactly he would want to move on again, even if it is to a Premier League Club like Newcastle. Any thoughts? That bastion of all things Newcastle and favourite rag of Decka Lambas*d has us linked with the following today... Aston Villa, Newcastle and Norwich will have FC Cluj winger Modou Sougou watched at Manchester United on Wednesday night. Sougou, 27, impressed against United in October and caught the eye again, scoring against Galatasaray last month. Swansea and Bolton are also among a clutch of clubs watching the Senegal international, who is available for around £2million and wants to leave Romania in January. Sougou has a Portuguese passport which will enable him to pick up a work permit should a move to a Barclays Premier League club be forthcoming. Does that mean he is stuffed should Championship Bolton try to sign him? WL

Quite a few sources running with the following..... Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is reportedly planning to make a move for Southampton captain Adam Lallana in January. Lallana, 24, signed a new four-year contract with the Saints last year. APee apparently wants to buy the midfielder out of that arrangement and is prepared to start the bidding at £5m. Certainly a player I would welcome at SJP. WL

A little snippet to keep us going. Newcastle United are hunting FC Cluj winger Modou Sougou, he could be another Alan Pardew bargain this January.
Not many will know a great deal about Modou Sougou, the FC Cluj winger terrorising full backs in the Romanian League. Newcastle have reportedly had him watched in recent games and they could sign him for as little as £2 million when the January transfer window opens.
The wide man has started in all of Cluj’s Champions League matches this season and could add a great deal to the Newcastle United team. He is very slender and slight which means his obvious assets are pace, trickery and movement. He does not look like the sort of player who is going to brush a defender off the ball so it’s all about utilising the space in between players and in behind.

And the latest rumour is Diame from West Ham. Mind you after his performance against Chelsea I think there will be bigger clubs in for him. Would be an excellent acquisition though.

Magpie I agree about Diame, the real shame is he didn't join us in the Summer on a free! One thing for sure after last nights performance the rumour machine is going mental. This being fairly typical as news in France breaks that Newcastle are interested in 19 year-old Nancy full-back Massadio Haïdara, who has already played a couple of times for the France U21 side. Massadio was born in Trappes, France back in 1992, and only turned 19 last Sunday. I don't know much about the lad, however apparently he is one of the best young French players around, and an exciting player to watch. He is of Senegal descent, and plays as a left back and made his professional debut on 11th December 2010, in a league match against Sochaux, having only just turned 17. This lad would look like an excellent acquisition, and in January of last year he signed his first professional contract and agreed to a three-year deal with Nancy. Could this be another Graham Carr sourced wonder buy? WL

More transfer rumour madness.... According to Sly Sports we have been linked with another full back this time it's Marcos Rocha. Although the 23 year old Brazilian has played down talk of an impending move to Newcastle, admitting that he will be staying with Atletico Mineiro until next summer. The tough-tackling defender, who has received nearly 50 yellow cards in 142 league appearances (he's going to suspended more than Mr T in that case) for Mineiro, says he has not heard of Newcastle's reported interest, but admits to being flattered. Which probably explains why no one over here has heard of it either until today. "My press adviser talked to me about that and then my agent called me. None of them knew anything about it, and neither did [Atletico Mineiro's director of football] Maluf, " he told Globo Esporte. "But everyone knows the Premier League is one of the best leagues, it's hard, not everyone can play there, so I can only be thankful." Rocha revealed that Mineiro president Alexandre Kalil does not want any of his top players, including star man Bernard, to leave before their Copa Libertadores campaign, which could go on until July. "He calmed everyone down and said he won't let anybody leave, not even Bernard, before the end of Atletico Mineiro's participation in Libertadores," he said. "So if I have to go, it will be after Libertadores." One to bin or one to watch.....you decide. WL

More rumours doing the rounds this morning..... According to The Sun Newcastle are ready to replace Demba Ba with Dynamo Kiev striker Artem Milevskiy. 27 year old Milevskiy has spent his whole career with FC Dynamo Kyiv and was the Ukrainian Premier League's 17-goal top scorer in 2009/10. Born in Belarus, Milevskiy represented the country of his birth at junior level before switching allegiance to Ukraine following a move to Dynamo in 2002. One to watch or bin, who knows? In a similar vein according to Decka's favourite rag The Daily Snail this is up for grabs.... Aston Villa, Newcastle and Reading are keen on Osasuna midfielder Raoul Loe. The 6ft 4in defensive midfielder has been outstanding for the Spanish side this season, but their perilous financial state means they will listen to any decent offers for the 23-year-old Frenchman. Other than he may come cheap, we shall see..... WL
