You're right Captain. 90% is rubbish. Look at the Debuchy saga dragging on. I just hope we are actively pursuing our key targets and have late backup plans should they fail. It's no secret we need numbers with the extra European games this coming season. It would be a pity if we lost out by putting in extremely low bids for players hoping the clubs bite. If you think back when Moses was available Wigan paid £500,000 more and got him, now he is worth a whole lot more. ATB Exactly. But you know Mike and Derek, they won't budge from their stance. So we might end up bidding for all these top European strikers and fall short of the asking price and end up with no one. Maybe we should be more realistic and search for a striker closer home. Maybe Moses as you pointed out. Chelsea seem keen on him. Hardly 3 weeks for the new season. I hope we get a couple more bodies in before then.

Newcastle Increase Bid For Debuchy – To Sign Early Next Week The Journal is reporting today that Newcastle United will finally wrap up their deal to sign Mathieu Debuchy from Lille, when the team return from their Portugal excursion early next week. We can reveal that United have already agreed personal terms with the France international – and will up their bid in the coming days after Mike Ashley gave a green light to a new and improved bid. Polly, did we get Debuchy yet?
We're linked with Ashley Willams of Swansea just yesterday.

Lots of reports this evening stating the Debuchy deal is dead in the water after Lille announced he will not be leaving. If that is true I would go for Gregory van der Wiel from Ajax. CWL

I heard about the Debuchy deal too. I got the feeling a long time ago that the Lille board were making it hard for him to leave. If we can still put it off then great otherwise we move on. Erik Peters might be an option (I remember him linked to us a lot). I'd rather prefer Leighton Baines.
If we don't manage to get a full back then Simmo and Santon are good first 11 starters. I'd go with them two anyway.

Crazy money being asked for Baines, even Red Nose Sir Alex at Manure is balking at the price Everton have valued the player at. Pieters is still an option but is still recovering from injury so would be a risk, that's if they can even agree a fee which was an issue before he got hurt. Whether we like it or not the permutation of Simpson, Santon and Taylor with Fergie and Tav in reserve could be the way it goes. CWL

I wouldn't mind the full back line up as it is. We can manage. I like Ashley's 'we won't be bullied' approach in the transfer market. Still hoping he gets the AC deal done.....

Newcastle United have reached agreement with Ajax over Dutch international Anita. He made his farewell appearance for Ajax on Sunday against AZ Alkmaar and is due for a medical at Newcastle on Monday.

Still don't understand why Simpson hasn't been offered a contract he's happy to sign, he was permanent in the 2nd best defence at the start of last season of all 4 divisions, rumours of England squad call up - he's solid enough 90% of the time with Taylor, perch as back. I think we need to push for a centre back that can walk into European football - remember the game at carrow road last season when the 3 naturals were all injured

That's why they has issues over his contract. But I like Simpson. Those two off the line clearances against Man Utd were top draw!

I'm afraid he's testing FCB wage limit
