Lille agree a fee for French right-back Lille have got their man. They’ve agreed a fee with Troyes for young right-back Djibril Sidibe, paving the way for Mathieu Debuchy to leave the club. hope yer right Polly, we certainly can use him.

Lille are playing spoilt sport after they know how much they lost with the Cabaye sale to us. They don't want to lose another quality player. I hope we get Debuchy soon. And then another CB and hopefully a striker (doesn't have to be a big name).

Anyone else read the pile of carp doing the rounds about Cabaye being linked with a move to Barca and APee's so called interest in Fenerbahce player Baroni. It's almost becoming a major passtime trying to sort out the real transfer deals from the complete baloney (no relation to Baroni) written about NUFC. Along similar lines is the continuing saga of the Douglas transfer with the player, his agent and current club all coming out with conflicting tales of woe. I'm not convinced this guy wants to come to The Toon and perhaps AP is better off looking elsewhere. CWL

Here's another name to add to the long list of players linked with a move to The Toon during this transfer window. According to Clubcall.com Newcastle are being linked with a move for Getafe midfielder Abdel Barrada, who will cost in the region of £9million. Toon boss Alan Pardew is keen to bolster his midfield this summer and reports (from who exactly?) claim he is in the hunt to sign the France-born Moroccan star, who has been told he can leave Getafe at the right price. The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid during the January transfer window but a move failed to materialise, while Newcastle and Everton are also said to be keen. Pardew is desperate to wrap up his first big-money deal (Yeah! Debuchy) of the summer and Barrada is said to be on his wanted list (along with dozens of others according to various sources no doubt!). CWL

Dont know if it is true. HP. newsnow. Russians Triggers £7mill. Ba clause. According to Radio Sport in Russia, Rubin have jumped to the top of the queue for the Senegal striker. The Russian outfit will now look to agree personal terms with the former West Ham forward before the July 31 deadline expires on his exit terms at St James' Park. Rubin Kazan have reportedly activated Demba Ba's £7m Newcastle exit clause. O Dear.

According to the Ronnie Gill no contact has been made between the two Clubs for Ba... DEMBA BA remains a Newcastle United player today - despite reports linking him with Rubin Kazan. Reports from Russia today indicated that Ba's £7million release clause had been activated by the Russian Premier League side. But the Chronicle understands that there has been "no contact" between the Magpies and the Russian outfit. However, the player still has six days left in which the clause can be triggered and even then United could still offload him if the right bid came in between now and the transfer window's closure. Ba has made some positive noises since returning for pre-season with the Magpies but many fans won't be fully convinced until September 1 when they will know for sure if the striker is still a United player. You're right Captain. 90% is rubbish. Look at the Debuchy saga dragging on. I just hope we are actively pursuing our key targets and have late backup plans should they fail. It's no secret we need numbers with the extra European games this coming season.

It's no secret we need numbers with the extra European games this coming season. It would be a pity if we lost out by putting in extremely low bids for players hoping the clubs bite. If you think back when Moses was available Wigan paid £500,000 more and got him, now he is worth a whole lot more. ATB
