for lashing out at Brighton's El-Abd. Silly boy, he's had this coming for a while and in the light of FA's treatment of Ballotelli this was a foregone conclusion. We'll not miss him so much against Blackburn but Aston Villa and Spurs will be another kettle of fish.

Gets lumps kicked out of him for most of the game and the ref did nothing. This happened and the ref still did nothing. In steps the FA! The same FA that will not use video evidence unless it suits their agenda. Incredible how certain players are cautioned by that illustrious governing body when others practically get away with murder. Helps if you are English and needed for Euro 2012 as well. Shambles. CWL

I agree totally CWL but the lad does make some rash tackles at times.

Magpie I understand your frustration with Pardeu but how does he have anything to do with Cabaye lashing out at El-Abd? I think Cabaye's become frustrated with English footy as he's been nicked up quite a bit, came off on a stretcher one match. But I don't think you can leave that at Pardeu's door.

I agree totally CWL but the lad does make some rash tackles at times. I agree he does put himself about at times yet on this occasion it was nothing more than two players being committed and coming together. That happens time and time again during a match with nothing done about it. I could understand the need for action had it been a nightmare game for the ref to control however it wasn't. If anything I thought the ref was extremely lenient in terms of the physical element so why the need to bring this one incident under the spot light? It certainly will not assist Brighton to get out of the Championship because Cabaye receives a suspension. CWL

Cabaye is becoming frustrated alright. I bet most players are with Pardew. It's just that Ashley, Llambias and AP are keeping it under wrap. No Joey Barton to go on twitter and let it all out now. Had he been at NUFC you'd have known exactly what an incompetent manager AP is. Cabaye has a bad boy element to his game. And it doesn't get any better with a manager who encourages you to defend and see out games. Put Cabaye in Spurs and you'll see the Modric in him come out.

Brighton's El-Abd was winding people up as much as he could all night, he must be relishing the fact that he has succeeded in getting somebody in trouble when he gets away scot-free. ATB

Ronaldo had the lumps kicked out of him. He only got better because he had Sir Alex as his mentor and coach

No manager can protect the player once the whistle blows, if you cannot see that more fool you. ATB

A manager can protect his player once the whistle blows by chaning personnel and formation to protect his players. For instance tell Cabaye to drop in between the lines and be mobile rather than to sit behind with Tiote / Guthrie and defend and be an easy target for the ruffnecks. AP has no clue. He only knows one way of playing errr defending!

Should The Toon log an appeal or not bother? CWL

I think the FA will just deny the appeal should The Toon send one. Had it not been for the Ballotelli incident I don't think they would have seen much in it.
Cabaye was ran over by El-Abd but that doesn't justify him kicking out like that whether he was meant to hit or not. This isn't the first or second time Cabaye decides to let his opponents taste his studs.
There have been a couple of occations where another player has just cleared the ball or passed it on only for Cabaye to appear a moment later with his leg straight and his foot out in knee height. Considering these cowardly acts I'd say that he has just gotten what was coming for him.
Cabay is a brilliant player with great talent and quality and that might make him a target by other players, but that still won't dismiss that he also has an ugly and cowardly side to his game too that will always get him into trouble.
