Canny it's because The Fat Controller is messing about with the future of The Club that I'm fighting in the same corner as the team...................... Some of the stuff I have read today just got to me.................. Oh! and by the way I hate cornflakes so you are safe from any accusations of p'ing in them! It also dawned on me a while ago there's bugger all I can do about the FCB and anything hurled at Mikey without bank fulls of cash behind it is just so much wasted effort IMO. That's why I try and get some small satisfaction from out of following the team wherever I can. Last night was a case in point. I'm just not sure what it is some fans are looking for anymore. Whatever it is, unless more disappointment, I seriously doubt they will get it from our current most benevolent owner. Just what do they expect from this squad of players? We all know it's not the greatest team we have ever had. Yet moaning like hell when we play poorly, but get something from a game is not my idea of support. Would these same members of The Toon Army have stayed quiet had we got beaten by four or five goals? I very much doubt it. Being critical is one thing, but I'm just fed up of the same relentless stuff being churned out again and again. As if that is going to suddenly bring everyone to their senses or achieve a radical change in attitude from Mikey. Perhaps it's correct what some people are saying, why should he bother spending more of his money when all he gets is grief! On your suggestion about extra points for predicting The Toons position in the League after ten games. I shall give it some serious thought (so keep a look out on the predictions thread), but only if you continue to keep predicting those 5 - 1 defeats......... The Mags have taken four points already from those games! As for being stroppy................... CWL

Canny if it is The Fat Controlers luck rubbing off on the team then I'm going to accept whatever satisfaction I can get from it now. Mainly because as with the FCB it's bound to turn around and kick you in the teeth at some point once more stupid decisions are made............ Despite the performances of our defence not getting a decent quality striker in during the transfer window was a lost opportunity. CWL

Although I'm ecstatic that the team are in 4th position, it's going to be dammed embarrassing if they continue to do well. It will justify the action that fatso has taken i.e buy cheap, sell dear, lowering the wage bill, not buying in the windows, letting good players go for nowt, telling the fans sod all, etc, etc, etc. I wonder if he'll turn round and say "na, na, na, na ,na" I know we should be pleased, and I will be, but it will stick in the craw if his strategy is proved the right one!!!!!!

Pundits say it is the right one....Because NUFC is one of the teams doing well on the pitch and making money off it....I dont know....I just want Ashley out....Simple as that....This is going on for too long now....

Ann the team doing well is never embarrassing.............. Also the buy cheap sell high scenario is something of a myth based around the sale of Carroll. The other player sales sanctioned by the FCB, on reflection, have been cheap gifts to the buying club in many respects. As was the free transfer of Barton. Both examples of poor decision making rather than shining lights in any so called strategy Mikey and Co are employing. The lowering of the overall wage bill is no bad thing. Those costs were getting to ridiculous heights and difficult to justify no matter how you want to word it. Not sure where you get the no buying in the Transfer Window from either.................. we did actually sign some players after all! Perhaps not the ones supporters themselves would have wanted, nor for the amounts of money anticipated, but hey you could say we were fortunate to have brought in the ones The Club did sign. Feelings and communication between supporters and Mikey will not improve IMO until either party is prepared to alter their positions and give some ground to the other. Unable to see that happening anytime soon as Mikey is in total control and mighty reluctant to give any of it up no matter how small a part it may actually be. His strategy will only be proven the right one if it achieves his objective of a top ten finish at the end of the season. There's a long way to go until then. All that's happened so far is the side have got off to a good start................ keeping it going with what is available will be the really hard part and that will mainly be down to The Manager and Players, not Mikey! I probably worded my post wrong I didn't mean it's embarrassing the team winning, I mean it's embarrassing for all of us, and will make us look like plonkers, if fatso's strategy works, after all the whinging!! Mind I won't mind, but I just hate the thought that he just might be right!!!!

Personal view Ann but I do not think its Embarrassing to any supporter that the team are doing reasonably well I think its more that in spite of the mismanagement at the top the players have kept a team ethic which has manifested itself in the results so far. I do believe the miserly attitude that Ashley and his mate have shown in all the transfer windows for a long time has stopped the team improving further, the striking department it must be said is not mind blowing is it? Mind I won't mind, but I just hate the thought that he just might be right!!!! Ann be under no illusions Mikeys strategy will only get The Toon so far.......... If as a supporter the height of your ambition for the team and Club are no more than staying in the Premier League about mid table or getting into the third/fourth round of cup competition in a good year, then you will possibly not be too disappointed. However if you are looking for NUFC to really push on in the League and compete in Europe again or get to a final or two with a real chance of winning then that will take money, good management and quality players throughout the side. Okay we may get lucky on the cup side of things. However nothing I have witnessed so far in four years makes me believe Mikey is prepared to build a side capable of consistently challenging for honours. As things stand IMO Newcastle are still going to be playing catch up and the super Clubs like Manure, Citeh, Chelski will not be looking over their shoulders in fear of us coming along. Despite any financial measures UEFA or FIFA try to introduce they will continue to buy players we can only dream of having pull on the shirt. Supporters of any Club no matter who they support all like a good old moan which IMO is not the same as having a whinge. One is an expression of the pain they are going through (no matter what the cause) while the other is crying for no particular reason other than you can. Admittedly it's often a fine line between the two, but in most cases it is possible to determine which kind of supporter a person really is.................well at least I hope you can! CWL
