Dr Who

Now I know this might be a controversial thread but I've got to get it off my chest!
I find the tremendous popularity of "Dr Who" incomprehensible. Is it because of the hype given it or what! The actors who play the Dr are given huge acclaim....ie who is going to be the next Dr etc etc!
Now I remember as a child liking, and only liking "Dr Who" and I can remember various "Doctors" and thats it.
The theme music is good and nostalgic for me and no doubt others but recent series are crazy....I don't even know if the actors know whats going on and whats supposed to be happening? Anything to do with a "dumbing down" of TV or what!
Or is it just me?

By the way I loved "Life on Mars" so don't mind a bit of fantasy!

I can't wait for it to start I'm still not sure about Matt Smith though, but I loved David Tennant. Can we have our meet on the Friday, so I don't miss it *ducks quickly*

I like Dr Who too

Thought David Tenant made a great doctor and I liked the introduction of Captain Jack

Altho I'm having a bit of trouble with Matt Smith-didnt enjoy the last series too much but hopefully it'll get a bit better

so i take it Dr Who is on Saturday, Ann you dont have to miss it you can these lovely little boxes that record tv programmes, plus it will be repeated so much you will soon know it word for word, the Dr Who i liked was Tom Baker and his dog K9, i liked any Dr Who with the Daleks and i have a few of the old ones on dvd which are Destiny of the Daleks and Genesis of the Daleks, i also have the Dalek collection with David Tennant.

i met Tom Baker at Shepherds Gateshead he seemed very tall, mind you i was just a wee lad at the time so that might be why, but im sure he was over 6ft.

I bought the video off ebay few years back but we havent got a video recorder anymore

Lol-I loved this that much when younger I wrote to the BBC asking for a photo of the robots.For some reason they sent me a signed photo of Leela Well not a real signature but one of those mass produced things-had it in a scrapbook I kept alongside some robot pictures from the paper until 2006 when I sadly lost it.

It will always be my favorite story.

I have watched Dr Who from day one ....I always used to hide behind the sofa when the baddies came on weather it be the
Daleks....Ice warriors or the Cybermen i would pass bricks..lol
