It just seems to me, Natt, that it is over hyped and I suppose also, its become a kind of "cult" thing....a bit like the "Trekkies" phenomena who follow the "Star Trek" series. Why is it that some programmes attract this sort of huge following? In other words what makes a "cult" series? Of course its pretty good for the makers of these programme who can benefit from the accompanying merchandise...books, videos etc!

Bit OTT to call this programme crap......................it's an entertainment show on TV, nothing more, nothing less. The fact it has a huge following simply indicates it is popular with a specific audience. The spin off of merchandising again simply reflects it's popularity. Don't imagine when the first broadcast was shown someone had an idea they would be selling model Police Boxes to a future generation of fans......................... I have never liked Big Brother as I just don't get it for some reason or other.....................but it worked for some people who followed it with a passion and raved about it! Each to their own Jazz. CWL

I was just being deliberately provocative CWL, as I said in my first post....I knew it would be controversial as I know its very popular...just wanted to know why some things catch on and others don't. It just seems to me that what started out as basically a children's programme has now become, I think, a world wide phenomena? On a morning TV show they had some "distinguished" drama critic discussing it which I thought was a bit OTT!

i just cant get interested in Dr Who at the moment i dont think Matt Smith makes a good Dr, the ratings were down for the new show by 1.5 million, they tried to blame it on the nice weather.

I wasnt overly impressed with the first episode I'm afraid Scariest monsters ever? Dont think so. One of the recent ones I did find scary were those angel statues that moved if you blink-gave me the creeps they did
