Read this on the official site today as well.................. www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20110606/patricks-a-pro_2281670_2372378The bit that tickled me was towards the end of the article............ Nzuzi - who can play at full-back or in midfield - can't wait to mix with the likes of Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton and Alan Smith at United's Darsley Park headquarters. He better do it quick then as they may not be around for much longer! CWL

Good piece in the Journal this morning from Luke Edwards......... www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2011/06/07/kevin-nolan-in-limbo-as-contract-talks-end-61634-28832245/All this business over the length and type of Contract being offered to Barton and Nolan makes me think are we witnessing a return to former days when it comes to how players earn their money. Certainly the sums being earned now by just your average footballer in the PL is far in excess of that received by players in the 60's, 70's and probably all of the 80's as well. Is the Club right to take this stance and base earnings around incentives rather than just agree to paying someone regardless? To a degree I can accept what is happening, however adopting this approach is not without risk for both Club and Player. Should the Club get it wrong many a good signing will walk away to join a potential rival. Should the player get it wrong they may well find themselves in complete limbo with no one wanting them as they price themselves out of the game. That said I reckon there will always be Clubs willing to take the gamble on certain players and pay silly money. I also believe given even the minimum wages players can earn for sitting on the bench they will sign for someone rather than not take the money. They are after all professionals and if you really doubt what I mean just ask Michael Owen............... CWL

CWL If Ashley wants to run the club his way then he will have to accept he will run into problems. If he wants to change the pay structure and make it different to other clubs he should be man enough to sit down with the individual concerned. It looks as if he is taking no notice whatsoever of Pardew so why does he employ him? ATB

Guys....gonna make a prediction.........Colo,Barton,Jose and Nolan will all be gone before next season......why ? because the fatman will get all the high earners out and further push his wage/age policy...........right or wrong. Agreed Canny, although the age thing looks as if it is linked to that as well. It also looks as if Ashley will invest in buying youngish players solely to make a fat profit as soon as possible. So if your A GOOD player looking for some long term security at NUFC forget it. ATB

I mean ..he ignores the fat blond who keeps her hand on his leg every game......
