Yepp - Although I fancy Barton may play for us next season and then leave on a free transfer. Add Smith (if anyone will pay his wages) and Tiote.

Ripping the heart out of the side by selling our best players or by not renewing contracts just appears a pointless (in more ways than one!) exercise to me. Then again half, if not most, of what The Fat Controller has done during his tenure has left me baffled.............. All the rubbish we keep reading and hearing about NUFC going down the Young Player route is complete tosh and was blown out of the water big time last Sunday. Yes we may well bring in promising young players, however if they never make the first team or as soon as they do are sold off, just what is there for supporters to get excited about Football wise? Watching the team battle against relegation season after season is not my idea of fun. Yet just making up the numbers is also nothing to crow about. I can accept I may never see us win a league title but surely a decent cup run is not asking for a lot. Ah! yes, stupid me, thinking it's about Football and not our benevolent owner getting a return on his investment anyway he can. This guy may be slowly driving me away from The Toon, however he can't take away my passion for following the game. CWL

Just in case anyone is not aware thought I would repeat this news..... As expected, both Sol Campbell and Shefki Kuqi have left NUFC. Official confirmation is awaited from The Club (nowt new there then!) as to the futures of Ryan Donaldson and Brad Inman, who are both believed to be out of contract next month. Departing though are Dan Leadbitter and Andy Mogwo. CWL

To Campbell and Kuqi, thanks for your contribution which combined amounts to about nowt. Although probably not entirely your own fault. Oh well you both made a penny or two along the way.
CWL has already mentioned it in passing but in light of present negotiations or none -negotiations I can't help but wonder if my observations following the WBA game are becoming dismally true.
Anyone who stayed for the players "Lap of Honour" following the game will have noticed that both Nolan and Barton kept themselves decidedley distant from the rest of the team whilst paying their tribute to the fans. I acccept that Nolan was on crutches and couldn't move very quickley (he never does anyway) but hey the rest of the team weren't exactly sprinting around the pitch either.
All is not well with the Scousers if you ask me.

Barton receives a clear rejection, well according to his agent. The clock is ticking on this one.......... Nolan is still in talks when only a month ago before the season ended he was weeks away from signing. He's crocked at the moment so silence is probably the best way to go about things......... Shane Ferguson gets a five year deal and signs on the dotted line. I'm pleased for the lad, but I wonder how long it will be before this is described by AP as being like signing a new player? Jose is about to be offered a fantastic new contract if you believe AP. Well it's either genuine or a preliminary for the statement which is to follow and reads quote 'We did everything we could to keep him, but failed!' unquote. Then pocket the large fee and bring in another low cost prospect or someone else's reject as a gamble. Interesting these contract negotiations and the way they are being portrayed by the Club to the media are't they.......... I wonder how much more positive or negative spin we will read and hear about involving NUFC before the Transfer window opens next week? CWL

Can't say that I am looking forward to this transfer window with any great anticipation.

Looks like Lyon are back in the hunt for our Spanish left back as they plan to re-evaluate their transfer strategy following fresh reports (not sure where from) linking The Toons Jose Enrique with a move to the French club. Umm! guess he possibly didn't like the terrific contract that was on the table then......... CWL

Considering that so many of the top players in Lille are fleeing over to England and Spain I'm not so sure the PL players would see such a big appeal in Ligue 1..

It is an interesting point Natt. Although I reckon by cherry picking the best from France it leaves Champions League or Europa League places behind for others to step into...................... Mind you some of the transfers players make just baffle me completely. CWL
