Having earned another point at Blackpool IMO barring a minor miracle NUFC are going to be playing in the PL again next season. However there's the small matter of sorting out a number of key players contracts between now and then................... Most notably the following: Jose Enrique and Joey Barton with their present deals ending in June 2012. Other players whose deals also end in June 2012 are; Stephen Harper, Danny Guthrie, Peter Lovenkrands and Alan Smith along with a number of younger players including Shane Ferguson. How many of them will receive the deals they are looking for? Although probably just as important a question to be answered is will they be sold or released regardless? What do you think? CWL  |

Seems like Joey is set to stay according to the Chron. but they seem to be approaching it in quite a low key manner. Does it depend on who's going to go, namely, Enrique, and are they waiting to see what Ashleys going to do with that money? Jose seems to be a bit too quiet for my liking which seems to indicate that he's going? Don't know about the others mentioned.....Harper will stay, I think....he's a fixture unless he thinks "our Tim" is too much of a threat? Hope Shane Ferguson remains.....don't want him being sold on, then coming back to haunt us!   |

Unfortunately Jazz, that is exactly what I fear from the Fat Controller  I agree Jose's been far too quiet and not so much as a denial from the heirarchy (Nowt new there though).......so he's probably on his way  Joey has hinted publicly that if the core of the team go this will show a lack of ambition and therefore HE will go too!! As for the "journos" at the Ronnie, they're to s**t -scared to question the regime regarding anything to do with the club so I reckon they are just speculating! Joey has publicly stated that he would like to finish his career here, so we can but wait and see....... If young Ferguson goes then the Fat One will have shown his hand as he is currently the ONLY cover we have at Left Back |

A shame that Ferguson has to figure as a backup as a left back, he should be played as a left winger really and it would be a good idea to give him a start there these last matches.
Put Jonás on the right and Barton in the middle along with Tioté and Nolan on a more advanced position.

That'd work for me Seb!! Young Fergy's certainly got the pace and Jonas has shown improvement of late.
What price we finsh the season with a bang using that team/formation?

Think it could go either way no matter what formation we'll go with.
My guess is though that Pardew will play it safe and play the more "trustworthy" players no matter if they play on the right position or not.

Hope he doesn't play Colo in midfield again, that really upset the balance last time!!!

Now with Ireland in the squad I don't believe we will see Colo being asked to play the defensive midfield role again. I thought he would be okay there however after the Villa game have revised my opinion............sorry Colo son stick to being a central defender. CWL |

Ireland is now out for the rest of the season.................... should this be taken as the final straw regarding the transfer of this lad to the Toon never mind offering him an actual contract? Pay as you Play at best and that's probably still too good an offer. CWL |

Three days after the season ends and the fun starts.................. Amazing how you can discuss things after a game and a few days later the news about Barton's contract breaks. Fairsy's comment on Sunday about Nolan and Barton walking around away from the rest of the team................... did we think there was anything in it? At the time probably not.................Now? Well to be honest God Only Knows! We could be in for a long summer of this kind of thing I think........ CWL  |

Guys....gonna make a prediction.........Colo,Barton,Jose and Nolan will all be gone before next season......why ? because the fatman will get all the high earners out and further push his wage/age policy...........right or wrong.
