The keepers of the nations conscience have decided you can on longer use the title 'Easter Eggs' They are afraid doing so may insult any none Christians so we should now refer to them as 'Spring Spheres' Well it sounds like they are talking allot of spheres themselves.........hairy one as well.

Thats interesting cos my daughters black mates hate being called coloured-I wonder if its a generation thing? Have to say-the people I met from African or West Indian backgrounds also found that a very offensive term altho having said that there was quite a list of terms to choose from And that wasnt the worst one.

years ago when i worked in a bakery there was a lot of Pakistanis and Indians and they hated anyone calling them black, a woman cleaner got wrong off a manager for calling a couple of them black Bs for tormenting her, she was told she could call them coloured BS but not black, they were quite happy been called that , one of them once told me the reason they hated been called black was because they were not black, the person i asked was about 18 and it was about 6 to 8 months ago so i dont think it's realy a generation thing, mind you if i was black id rather be called coloured or brown but not black.

Personally i cant see the problem with if your brown your brown and if your black your black .Things only get complicated when politicians get involved

The colour of ones skin becomes complicated when it's used offensively...................... During the late sixties in the USA the word Nigger which had previously been used in a derogatory fashion to define African American slaves was taken back by people to be used in a totally different context. It may well have had political overtones however for many that word no longer had the same impact to offend as previously. In fact quite cleverly it had been used to redefine them as people. I used to be self conscious about colour issues, however having spent time with various people from different cultures it is now not an issue for me. In fact one of my Black (his choice of word, although I have been allowed to call him nigger on occasions admittedly usually when having a drink) American friends calls me 'Honkey'........................ The thing is often only the two of us understand the intent and humour behind the use of either word. One thing which is not in dispute is that the guy has my utmost respect as a person. So as far as I'm concerned he could be green and I could be blue it wouldn't make much difference! CWL

Must admit - this PC thing is a pain in the neck. I live in a country with many nationalities, and it doesn't bother me. What does bother me is that Christmas and other holidays have to be re-named to appease other immigrants. Really - do they care? - I'd never heard of Thanksgiving Day! Do I
