woops! Back to my point - if you go to live in another country - you must accept their culture - not the other way around.

My daughter just walked into the living room and said, "Dad cancel my allowance, rent my room out, throw all my clothes out of the window, take my TV, stereo, iPhone and jewelry to the charity shop. Sell my car, take my front door key and throw me out of the house". Well, she didn't exactlly put it like that. Actually she said, "Dad this is my new boyfriend, Mohammed."

The colour of ones skin becomes complicated when it's used offensively...................... During the late sixties in the USA the word Nigger which had previously been used in a derogatory fashion to define African American slaves was taken back by people to be used in a totally different context. It may well have had political overtones however for many that word no longer had the same impact to offend as previously. In fact quite cleverly it had been used to redefine them as people. I used to be self conscious about colour issues, however having spent time with various people from different cultures it is now not an issue for me. In fact one of my Black (his choice of word, although I have been allowed to call him nigger on occasions admittedly usually when having a drink) American friends calls me 'Honkey'........................ The thing is often only the two of us understand the intent and humour behind the use of either word. One thing which is not in dispute is that the guy has my utmost respect as a person. So as far as I'm concerned he could be green and I could be blue it wouldn't make much difference! CWL Reminded me of this from the '70s CWL (Couldn't be aired these days) ;D www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_gN7zlpnz8
