Supposing, just supposing Stephen Ireland is fit for this fixture, will he be elegible to play or will there be a clause in his contract preventing him from making an appearance against his owners.
Not a doomster question, simply a matter of practicality since both Nolan and Tiote are suspended.
Ryan Taylor should be back but he is hardly a worthy alternative IMO.

No idea about Ireland, however I would play Saylor alongside Williamson in back four and put Coloccini as the defensive midfielder. Pushing Guthrie further up field in Nolan's role. CWL

CWL I'd go for much of the same CWL. I would, however swap the Sayler and Coloccine roles to maintain the working understanding Williamsen and Collo are establishing.

Pardew may well make no changes defensively and go fo a more attack minded approach. Leaving Danny Guthrie where he played Saturday alongside Barton and playing Ranger or Ryan Taylor wide right. I have a feeling that is exactly what he will do with Taylor being the one to come in. Mind you there's another option and that is to give Donaldson a game...................which for me would not be a bad thing. CWL

There's a crop of young Midfielders including Richardson and Haris Vuckic who could step up however I just don't see Pardew taking the gamble. Donaldson is more of a forward and has at least recently played at a level above that of the other youngsters so for me is the better choice. Interesting to note both Ryan's and Michael's contracts are up in the summer.
Also from what I can find out from a couple of sources Ireland is ineligible for sundays game against Villa so will have more time resting his knee.

CWL apparently, Ireland is on pay as you play,so the grapevine in the leazes says,so cost cutting may be on the cards, hence no games no pay. simples.

Markie the pay as you play situation involving Ireland was one of the things Pardew let slip in his radio interview if I recall it correctly. Quite a few fans were discussing that saturday when he didn't make the bench. CWL

Hmmmm. Does that mean all this injury talk is simply more spin from the terrible three?

One of the lads at the weekend made me laugh when he said Ireland looked better in the photo taken of him in Tup Tup than the one they keep using on the official NUFC web site! CWL

Hmmmm. Does that mean all this injury talk is simply more spin from the terrible three? I've had my suspicions for a while now Fairsy! Why the hell would we bring in a guy who was already crocked before he got here!! Not what I would call "strengthening" or "supplementing" the squad
