Saturday brings ex Mackem Manager Mick McCarthy (try saying that after a few beers) to SJP with his Wolves side.
Big game for both teams and I expect it will be a well contested affair to say the least. Referee Mike Dean may well have his hands full officiating this one. Although having been in the middle for our 5 - 0 drubbing of the Hammers he may be a good omen to ward off the 3pm hoodoo we have now suffered at home for 14 games.
There have been several calls this week from our Manager, Lamdumbass plus one or two players for the fans to get behind the team and create a wall of noise. In some of the comments I have read from fans they feel insulted by this as the one thing you cannot say about our support is that they don't get behind the team.
For me it's no longer about talking the talk, it's firmly time Pardew and whatever team he puts out walk the walk. Losing is not an option.................and a draw although better than nothing may still not be enough to prevent us from being dragged into the relegation dog fight.
Wolves have a poor away record this season, having collected only eight points from a possible 45, thanks to victories at Liverpool and Aston Villa plus draws at Everton and West Brom. Although their recent form has improved 11 goals from 15 games make them the joint lowest away scorers in the Premier League, along with Wigan.
Mind you Wigan came to SJP and almost went off with all three points had it not been for a very late equaliser by Coloccini (94) right at the death.
Not that I think Wolves will cause The Toon the same kind of problems as Wigan presented with their very pacy forward line. I expect this match to be similar in style to the Blackburn and Stoke home games although all being well without the same result. That said depending on what team Pardew selects it could well be another West Ham should the lads get an early goal to calm the nerves.
What do you think?
