Thanks for the reply. Yes one would have been enough but they obviously wanted to be seen to be acting.
Two thoughts. Firstly With a two match ban they may have done WR a favor inasmuch it should bolster his anger management therapy.
Secondly - giving refs the mandate to book or send off players would be amusing. So many stoppages that a game would take hours to complete, if indeed there were any players (or officials) left on the pitch. ;D

If common sense was applied during and after the game it would be a much better spectacle than it has become................. Then again somewhat ironically those running the FA probably know f all when it comes to applying common sense. As for Rooney's anger management therapy I would suggest Manure ask for their money back....................it clearly isn't working! CWL

Looks as if the FA, or is it actually The Football League or then again both, have found themselves in another right old mess involving QPR this time............... The following from Sly Sports News.............. An Independent Regulatory Commission will hear the charges brought against the London club on Tuesday (3rd May), with its verdict due to be delivered on Friday - just one day before the final round of Championship fixtures.
Rangers celebrated promotion on the pitch at Vicarage Road at the weekend after goals from Tommy Smith and Taarabt secured a victory which put them out of reach of the chasing pack.
Were a points deduction to be implemented, the play-offs would then run the risk of being thrown into turmoil should QPR elect to appeal against the ruling.
On Monday the Football League declined to comment on reports that they have warned teams who have reached the play-offs that the competition may be delayed pending the outcome of the disciplinary case.
The charges facing QPR concern the alleged existence of an agreement between the club and a third party in respect of Faurlin's economic rights, and the alleged failure by the club to notify the FA of that agreement before the player was registered to play in England in July 2009.
The club has also been charged with allegedly using or seeking to pay an unauthorised agent as part of the Faurlin deal, while both the club and chairman Gianni Paladini have further been charged with allegedly submitting false information in documents provided to the FA relating to a contract extension signed by Faurlin in October.
QPR and Paladini have denied the charges, which will be put before the commission's four-man panel. How ironic this also involves Neil Warnock....................who was full of anger when a similar type of thing involving West Ham resulted in Sheffield Utd going down. Possibly never to recover from what has been seen recently with them suffering another relegation further down the leagues on the same weekend Rangers were promoted. Will the FA deduct points for something that happened in 2009 or not? Should QPR not be allowed promotion on the back of this affair? What will happen with the playoffs? Will Norwich be awarded the League title as Champions? Friday should be fun...................... Does anyone else have a view on what should happen? CWL

I see after yesterdays encounter between Abu Dhabi Citeh and The Spuds the FA in their infinite wisdom have decided to charge Super Mario with violent conduct. For anyone who hasn't seen it Super Mario stepped all over Parker while he was on the deck. This has now been viewed as a deliberate stamping although personally having looked at it a dozen times looks more like Bambi on ice to me. As Ref Howard Webb didn't see the offence, although had he done so is reported to have said he would have sent off Balotelli, the FA have decided to step in. Should the player not appeal it's likely he will receive a four match ban. Given that Suarez got an eight game ban for a racist remark you have to wonder just what some people are on at the FA. What makes these decisions even more crazy is that the governing body decided Joleon Lescott had no case to answer over a separate incident during the same game. Where IMO he almost took Younes Kaboul's head off with his forearm. I would welcome any other views regarding either incident. CWL

Football matches can be like a pantomime at times and we all enjoy "the villains" and the "good guys".......I even remember at some Ncle. match where the "audience" could have shouted "He's behind you!" when someone, somehow, sneaked behind Shay Given when he was taking a goal kick and popped it in the net! (Can anyone remember the match?) However, in general I'm all for more "replay" technology "thingios", as Ann1 puts it!

You wouldn't want replay to bastardize the "beautiful game" like it's done over here. Turns a 3 hour game into 4 with the extra hour benefiting the beer or car salesmen with more commercial time. With every goal you'd have a manager challenging offsides and as the ref went, "under the hood" to review it, poof another commerical. Even then they don't always get it right. As far as technology thingios, maybe putting a "chip" in the ball to see if it really does go over the goal line might be ok because it wouldn't bog down the game. It's either in or not.

Toon manager Alan Pardew has been given a two-match touchline ban, and fined £20,000 after he shoved the referee’s assistant during a game against Tottenham Hotspur last month. Pardew accepted the FA’s charge of improper conduct and had, prior to this, apologised on television as well as in person to Peter Kirkup – the assistant he pushed. An FA statement read: “Following an Independent Regulatory Commission held today [Monday 3 September 2012], Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has been given a two match touchline suspension and fined £20,000 after he accepted an FA charge of improper conduct. ”Pardew, who requested a personal hearing, was charged following an incident which occurred during his side’s match against Tottenham Hotspur on 18 August 2012. "The suspension will take place with immediate effect.” CWL
