Hey whats this Ive been reading about womens insurance possibly going up They cant do that I know my driving is vastly superior to any mans Seriously tho-I see EU judges are considering the possibility of making it unlawful to discriminate between the sexes when it comes to insurance etc and that young women in particular may see a steep rise in their insurance policies. Now usually I would support people being treated equally but I wonder on what basis insurance companies decided that women should pay less than men? Is it because statistically they are safer drivers than men and if its true do you think they should pay the same?

Statistically women drive far fewer miles than men, that's why they appear safer. Sounds like a good idea to me anything that will make the world a safer place. sorry only joking. So seriously if you take it to it's logical conclusion, young drivers premiums must go down and older drivers premiums must go up so nobody is discriminated against. I bet car insurance companies love the EU..................'go compare'

It would be interesting to see the statistics that claims men are a greater risk is it worked out on being the cause of an accident or involved in an accident or is it down to how many claims are made by men

I did read somewhere Nick (can't find the dammed thing now ) that they reckon men have worse accidents than women i.e because of speed the damage is worse (write offs) less injuries etc. If they want parity between men and women, then why not lower the men's insurance to womens level? It should be on age not gender!!! They reckon men drive faster than women!!!!!!!! I got my first speeding ticket last year, it took them 30 odd years to catch me ;D The injuries and fatalities cause by speed is, I think something like 23% give or take, that means that 77% is caused by something else. Maybe it's time they started concentrating more on bad driving, rather than bang on about speed all the time!!!

I wouldn't have minded so much Milky, if I was bombing along taking risks with other cars, but there was nowt on the road (it was early) and I was only going 37mph!!!!! I was deffo not on top of my game, 'cos I got had coming back as well - same place, same speed!! I've usually got inbuilt radar with speed cameras, but it was those sneaky buggers in a van, and where they'd parked, there is usually a white van parked there anyway

At one time I had 15 points on my licence. It's only that I was a good friend of the magistrate son I didn't get banned.

Many women haven't, although quite a few have been booked for loitering.

Lol-I dont exactly loiter just never had a ticket I think its pretty obvious when its "safe to speed" and when it isnt.Wouldnt dream of speeding anywhere there are kids around for instance-but an open road with nothing in front or behind-well thats different again. My dad got caught by a mobile camera last year-it was parked at the side of a road which had no buildings there and not a soul in sight at a time when the road was quiet and relatively empty-a money making venture I think because I could see no safety issues whatsoever. He was just a few miles over the limit. Now I drive on that same stretch often too and almost everyone does forty or so there unless its rush hour when you do about five
