me and my lass were watching crimewatch when we heard someone come down the stairs and go along the passage towards the kitchen and i thought it was my son off to raid the fridge, as he should have been in bed i got up to see what he was up to and as i walked into the passageway i saw someone going into the kitchen so i went into the kitchen but there was no one there, i think we have a spook i just hope it keeps off my cherry bakewells.

Bloody hell, Skint.....sure it wasn't one of these opportunist thieves...or did you have everything locked? I had several strange experiences years ago when I was a kid. It was in my aunt's old Victorian house in North Shields. The house had three floors and on the top floor was a snooker table in the only room on that floor, as far as I can remember. Obviously this was a big attraction to me and I would head up there as often as I could. However the strange thing was that when going up the first flight of stairs to the second flight you had to pass two bedroom doors that were close together in the corridor leading to the final flight. I was very aware of something nasty lurking around those doors or in the rooms. Once past them I was ok but the same feeling occurred when going down again. This, in itself wasn't very dramatic....a kid's imagination you could say? However, years later, my immediate family were talking about this and that, and it came to light that everyone, my Mam, Dad, sisters and brother had all experienced the same horrible feelings when passing those doors. My mother then said that when I was very small I had come racing down the stairs saying I had seen a ghost.......I can't remember that. I would be interested to go to that house again to see if that atmosphere/feeling was still there. My aunt however has long since died and new people are in there now.

Jazz only one door into our kitchen the only other way out was down the plughole, thought my mind was playing tricks on me but both me and my lass heard someone come down the stairs and go along the passage towards the kitchen, it scared my lass but did not bother me if it was a ghost it can wander round as much as it wants, as long as it does not start asking for lifts to places and money i dont care.

I was going to start a similar thread. I have to say I'm very sceptical about the whole thing. There is a clock on the wall of the sitting room which stopped the week June died at 10.30. I'm ashamed to say I haven't go round to changing to battery. Yesterday in the afternoon I noticed it had started again an hour behind time. It's stopped again now at 10.30 but I'm sure at 10.30 last night it was still going and it's not that yet today. Doesn't frighten me the one thing in all the world is for June to come back if only for a second, but I don't believe in such things. Maybe I need a rethink.

My Mother, who was a straightforward, practical, sensible person always had a belief in reincarnation......like the Buddhists she thought, though not strongly, that we came back in some other form, perhaps animal, perhaps human......not an unpleasant idea I suppose........cats have a good life looking at our two lounging in the sun after they've had their food!

Strange occurrence, Skint, especially as both of you heard the sounds. You'll have to start charging "it" rent! ;D

I'm a sceptic as well. I know many people say that they have seen or heard things I never have and until I do I think I'd find ghosts hard to believe in.I have felt atmospheres such as the awful feeling I had visiting Ann Franks House in Amsterdam but I think that was the psychological affect of knowing what happened to her

the same happened when I visited Auchwitz many years ago.
It was a lovely sunny day in Poland, but there was an complete change of atmosphere inside. It was oppressive and heavy but that could well have been psychological as well, and a dread of what you would see, and what you knew happened there.

A friend of mine bought a property on top of a hill over looking the the sea at seaham it was a derelict woman's remand centre it consisted of 2 buildings a modern one and a very old one gargoyles above the door etc it used to belong to the mine owners (Vain Tempest Colliery) . Anyhow he said he needed some one to stay there for a couple of nights as the vandals had been getting in so i volunteered .I drove down taking my brothers Alsatian I fixed up a bed in the office of the modern building and settled down for the night all i could hear was the wind and the sea breaking on the rocks below .The place was aptly named Grey Stones. Anyway i could not sleep so i got up and started to look around I went out taking the dog crossed the yard and went into the old building thing is the dog would not move just sat on the step with sad eyes i give up and left him outside i walked through the house under torch light when i reached the kitchen i found a window broken so i pushed an old kitchen cupboard (a wardrobe type of cupboard) over to block it off any way hanging on the back of the kitchen door was an old NCB duffel coat when i left the dog was still sitting with its sad eyes. The next morning i took a look around to make sure everything was ok. When i got to the kitchen the duffel coat had been taken from the back of the door and was lying on the work top It still never convinced me of ghost etc. My mate did the place up and sold it. The last time i saw it it was featured in the Journal Homemaker last year and it was being sold by Paul Gascoigne...Now i reckon that answers a few questions as to Gazzers behaviour..LOL

I think certain places have a resonance. When you know something horrendous has happened somewhere I think that has an effect-but I think thats to do with the knowing. And to do with the psyche of the person who has that knowledge and their experiences. When I lived in Walker I heard many stories about how haunted my house was-for six years. I do believe strange things happen-just not seen owt myself
