plates of the earth moving around on lava and when they collide something has to give, it's been happening since the birth of the planet, does seem to be happening quite a lot lately probably has something to do with that big bang machine they created, mess with mother nature and she will bite back.

What an awful way for mother nature to bite back though skint, there seems to be disasters nearly every couple of weeks now, it's heartbreaking for the people of these countries

And now a reactor has blown up!!!! The core is fine - apparently, but they are concerned about another one, and are trying to cool it down with sea water!!!! The tsunamis always get me, I always expect them to look like the ones you see in disaster films - one huge 100ft wave!!!!

We should take a look at what is going on and say "there but for the grace of god go I" we are lucky in many way's and yet are never satisfied,

That Hadron Collider thing gave me nightmares from the minute I heard about it. I think mankind has become very arrogant thinking we can manipulate nature.GM crops, cloned sheep aye well thats all well and good but you just have to see whats happening on the planet to realise that we control nothing-we might move the goal posts but we are newcomers in this game

Aye, too right, Shads, some things are best left alone.....concentrate on things like curing cancer, etc. Too much experimenting to see what happens, whether the result is good or bad!

sick of hearing leaders of countries talking about what we should be doing to save the planet yet the mad scientists are allowed to create machines that will probably end up killing us all one day, that Hadron Collider thing billions of pounds spent when there are people in this world starving, cold, homeless, in need of medical attention etc, PRIORITIES a word the world leaders dont seem to recognise or understand it.

Quite agree skint, and would also add, why should we be giving India millions in aid, when they are spending billions on the space programme, that could be better used for their own people!!

I was reading today that the earthquake knocked the Earth off its axis by 10 inches and moved the North East coastline of Japan two metres. Its unimaginable to try and comprehend the forces that did this-it makes you realise how powerless those caught in its wake really were

And the scientists. Ive often wondered about the idea that just because science can do things-should they? Years back I was deeply upset by photos of monkeys having head transplants-the theory was that this would benefit a genius who was suffering a terminal illness in case he/she could find a cure for cancer-all hypothetical stuff and even now I cannot see the justification. And I worry about the chemical warfare research let alone that collider thing. Human beings are messing with things that took billions of years to develop and I think some people are arrogant enough to think they can control nature. That includes things like building nuclear reactors in places known for their volcanic activity

may seem a bit of a silly question but, did they intend to put the head of a genius on the body of a monkey.
