It's amazing how quickly a country the size of Egypt can become unstable. We came back two weeks before Christmas, and there wasn't any sign or hint and anyone being disgruntled or militancy. I watch a documentary tonight on the BBC HD channel where a journalist and camera crew when into the places where they lived. It was an eye opener we have nothing to complain about in this country, and it's a miracle Mubarak has lasted so long.

That happened when we were there, less than a mile from where we were staying. Although the beaches where roped off there were still some silly buggers swimming out at sea. we didn't need any encouragement to stay out of the water.

I think its the same in all these countries Egypt Tunnisia Morroco There all the same once you get out off the tourist hot spots the people live in hovels What i dont understand is when people say we are lucky...HOW It was not long ago we had hovels but the government at the time knocked them down and put in drainage built new houses with toilets inside etc ...They got their priorities right. In the likes of Egypt its all front nice cities big armies and so on all to impress the outsider but get out into the suburbs and it puts tears in your eyes

From what I saw the other night, you would have to go back to Dickens times (around the early 18 hundreds) to get a comparable life style which means Egypt's people are around 200 years behind us. The difference is they see normal working people spending on a two weeks holiday more than they earn in a year, which must eat away at them and suddenly explode.

Milky the likes of you and me aint going to change that and thats why its probably best not to visit areas like that Im not burying my head in the sand its just not our problem its down to their government to drag them into the 21st century

They may not want to Mubaraks personal fortune is around £76 billion. If thats true Milky how can that be. He has run the country for god knows how long so his wages wont amount to £76 Billion and i doubt he does that many after dinner speeches so how has he accumulated all this money .

Perhaps the people on the streets want to know the same answer.......... CWL Clear he wont be alone He has to have had senior politicians helping him plunder the countries finances so if the people get their own way they should take a look at quite a few bank accounts. And if i were a senior politician in Egypt i would seriously think about jumping ship or they just might find themselves swinging from a lamp post

I did notice in Egypt all the taxi's (and there were many) were all Hyundai's. I read the other day that one of Mubarak's sons owns a nationwide Hyundia dealership. I should imagine the only car allowed to be a taxi will be a hyundia from his son's dealership
