With Mubarak very close to standing down I am hoping the political situation in Egypt can be resolved without any major bloodshed also occurring. Whether he is ever brought to account for any actual or alledged wrong doing is almost secondary in my view. Let's face it as we have seen in the last year or so with the expenses scandal politicians in this country are not exactly above bending the rules should it suit their personal needs. This guy has had thirty odd years to more or less do as he pleases. IMO also getting some kind of internal stability is essential prior to the start of any meaningful dialogue between the various political factions looking to govern Egypt. Whichever way it goes tensions are going to be running high there for a while. Both on the streets and behind closed doors in the corridors of power.

I'm sure he's got an exit plan and slip away unnoticed and leave someone else to clean up. I wonder which country he'll be in exile, and how much will it cost him.

Probably Saudi they tend to take in all the waifs and strays in that region. I reckon he will be long gone before any televised announcement is made

When he does eventually go, I hope it doesn't lead to civil war, with all the various factions fighting to get the "top slot". and I hope they get non extremist, democratic leadership, otherwise I can see even more trouble ahead!!!

I hope its a smooth transition because if it gets messy the tourists will stop visiting and that would be catastrophic for Egypt

Might be better if America keeps there big nose out and there big mouth shut. They have kept Mubarak in power now it's time to let the people choose the government not the USA. Just imagine if Egypt had the audacity to tell America who should govern them.

I know nick.Watching the news today they were saying that themany strikes were down to people beginning to realise just how much he had and how little they did The worrying thing about all this Shads is theres a group of nutters called the muslim brotherhood waiting to step in and fill the void and if they get a foot hold you can strike Egypt off your list of places to visit

I'm hoping that the "people" in some of the other dictator led regimes in that area are going to take heart from what has happened in Egypt. Could it ever happen to "Dinnerjacket" in Iran?!

I think Iran is a different kettle of fish ...Yes its a dictatorship but more brutal the people there probably don't even know whats been going on in Egypt. old dinner jacket is more like a Islamic Nazi then a fundamentalist

Anyone can protest against the government in Iran, but not for very long.
