the problem with using cooking oil is the exhaust fumes smell like what ever was cooked in it, if it was fish you will have thousands of sea gulls and cats following you round , as for running an electric car the charge points are going to be free for the next 3 years and then it's £75 per year after that, and to charge at home will cost about £1 per full charge. But cooking oil is that cheap you could afford to use it fresh from the bottle so no fishy smell. As for the running costs of an electric car i dont doubt for one minute they will be cheap....Initaly...That will be the carrot to get people to buy them and like i said in an earlier post it will be those who buy the first batch that will gain financially. to coin a frase you have to speculate to accumulate and thats what the government are doing taking a loss in revenue for the first few years then they will hike up the revenue until you are paying as much if not more then you do now and remember while these electric cars are becoming popular the taxes on your currant petrol / deisel car will rocket to force you off the road and into an electric car. And if you beleive the powers that be you will be saving the planet at the same time

There are two major problems with electric cars; range and if you live in a flat not on the ground floor. I did notice at the Big Market there are two charging point in place, interestingly both were vacant.

Milky Newcastle City Council are a joke Some years ago they invested in some electric vans which the parking section used they installed charging points all over the city and suburbs Dean st multi had 4 Eldon Gdns had 5 i think Eldon Sq had a couple and they had about 6 dotted around the likes of Gosforth then out the blue they decided that electric was not the way to go and invested in bio fulled vehicles and ripped out all the charging points and now they are backtracking and reinstalling the charging points....What a waste of money
