Does anyone else play these online? Weve just got our PS3 connected to the internet and the kids and Mr Shads are loving it-Ive not been able to get near the thing But its hilarious sometimes listening to the other players who have the microphones.Other day my eldest was part of some mission with some American lads when one of'em accidently shot him. This poor lad was talking over the game-asking my lad-or GreenGuy as he called him- not to take it personal like . Fell on deaf ears Im afraid-after being resurrected Green guy promptly marched over and shot him. "Aw-he shot me" came this mournful voice through our TV. We then had two little kids having some on-line row "You stink" "No you Stink" type of thing-that went on for about ten minutes-I was in stitches listening to it. Our kids asked for a mic too-but I think not-dread to think what theyd be coming out with

The only thing I play on is my PC (sometimes I do dust off the old NES though) and that isn't online games that often.
And that is the typical conversation you get from kids on online shooters.

Its funny actually hearing the voices-altho having said that one advantage is that being in the living room you do at least hear whats being said. A couple of years back my son talked me into opening him an online account with some game apparently all his mates were into-not a shoot em up-runescape I think? Anyway-I had to stop that account after finding some dodgy character was trying to get him to reveal his address etc.All my kids are aware of on-line grooming so luckily he came and told me straight away-but in terms of young kids online-youve got to be so careful

I played Counter-strike competitively in Uni. Was part of a clan (group of 5 players). I used to love playing the game because of the banter in game. I wasn't a vocal player as I let my shooting do the talking in the game but once in a while when I let it all out my words would sting sharper than the bullet from my AK47 Shadow that is the sort of talk you get when you play online on the internet. It’s great fun but don’t let your kids get too much into it. They’ll ruin their lives and just be sitting playing games all day long. It is highly addictive. I speak from experience. Now-a-days I can content playing against the PC. You can avoid the noobs (beginners) and the hackers as well.

I've noticed theyve lost interest in just playing the game-its gotta be online all the time now.
Weve only had the router that connected it for a week or so so its early days but being honest I can see what you mean and I reckon things are gonna have to be carefully watched.I dont like the kids stuck on the playstation for hours at a time.
Dont get me wrong-I like playing on the PS3 too but youre right-it does get addictive-and when asking them to turn it off leads to full scale rows-well thats when it starts getting to be a big problem.

Do you have a steam account then magpie? No. Always played non-steam. I never needed steam as I didn't play counter strike online. I always played clan matches with the local teams. Do you play CS Seb? If yes I'll get steam and we'll have a match online

But my personaly favourite is CS 1.5 - the "one shot" shooters version. They made the game easier after that.

My son had a Commodore 64!! State of the art then! He started with an Atari and "upgraded"!! This would have been about the mid 80's I think
