No I'm not doing a Magpie despite losing a few more points to the Karma Comedian.... This thread is about skipper Fabricio Coloccini and his I quit message or Don't cry for me Argentina plea to NUFC's hierarchy. It all started with some statements coming out of his homeland just before Christmas, but now has grown into a transfer request according to The Ronny Gill among others. Can't say it comes as any surprise as I have been waiting for who would be next out the door since Ba was sorted. Sad to say in my view it's stuff like this and the lack of spirit in the team which will eventually see them go down rather than anything to do with football ability. Meanwhile our most benevolent owner and his side kick remain very quiet (another big wage earner off the books perhaps?) while the man in charge of the crew continues to rearrange the deck chairs..... Should the club just let Colo go or try and keep him? WL

It looks as if this may have been going on for a while but he did by a new pad in Jesmond a few months ago? It is possible that he has had a fall out with his wife which probably has affected him on the pitch culminating with him falling out with our friend. If this was the case then something should have been put in place so that his leaving would not create additional problems that we have in abundance. If he has a major family problem then he must be allowed to leave but something would have to be sorted financially. It just go to show bringing in foreign players can sometimes backfire. Lescott would be someone who could fit in very nicely? I think we also need to look at keeping a balance within the squad of British as well as other nationalities. ATB

HM! Or could be rats leaving a sinking ship. I do not think its like that Polly the guy is having family problems I believe. Thats not to say he may have problems with the manager et all but he appears to be a sincere type. I just could not have happened at a worse time but people are being well paid to sort the problems out regardless. ATB

...the hits just keep on comin'...
It's almost to the point where I expect nothing less from this season than complete and utter disarray and unhappiness.
If only it were as easy for fans to transfer teams as it is for the players.
"Ah, Newcastle...I don't like the way you're operating or the tactics you're playing...I'm putting in my transfer request this January. I'm interested in going to Juventus (I can keep the same colors!) or Everton, but will also consider other options. I prefer to stay in England and other squads on my 'acceptable' list include, but are not limited to, Swansea (I might get over in enough time to win a trophy!!), Norwich, Wigan, Southampton, and West Brom. I'll also consider going to a Championship squad, provided they have a chance for promotion."
Alas, Owners can sell teams, Managers can quit and find new jobs, Players can request transfers...we're the lot that's stuck with these guys.
Not that I'd have it any other way...

It would appear that Mrs. Collo and the kids have found it very hard to settle into the NorthEast!!!! Shame because he was one of the few who didn't "jump ship" in our "R" year..........unfortunately, if Fabricio DOES go, then I can see "Spider-Man" following him out the door this Summer.........FFS, we need to strengthen the squad Mikey, not decimate it.............it's a very proud FOOTBALL CLUB, not a 'kin SPorts shop!!!!

In this instance SM you have to feel for the guy its a pity the club was`nt in a better shape its not a good time for anyone. Although the players are well paid it must be really difficult at times for the families especially foreign ones. At the same time this club is riven with bad vibes as if it were cursed in some way, never to shake off the mantle of despair and frustration will it ever end! ATB

Any sympathy vote for Colo went out the door as soon as he signed his new four year deal.......last March. As for reading that Argentinian club San Lorenzo have set a deadline in their bid to sign Colo it just makes my blood boil. This Club from his homeland with hardly two pennies to rub together are dictating (sic) when he should sign by............ "When you go for a class A defender, the timings are a bit different, but if in the next week we don't have a response then we will have to go for another option." It's an insult and they should be told where to get off...with a capital F. As for the family not settling into the area well considering he has been here over three years they took their time deciding. One other factor which annoys me is that Coloccini's own form in recent weeks during this horrendous run of games has been anything but great. In fact at times I believe he has looked as poor as he did on first arriving and we all know what happened next. For me Colo is a great reader of the game without being a great defender and lacks pace. Yet he has been built up to be better than what he is which is nothing more than a good solid professional. Not that he has been helped any by Mikey and Co who have repeatedly failed to get a few more in to play with him rather than the nuggets he has had along side him on occasions. May as well get rid and bring Curtis Good back to blood him now before the drop.... WL
