Many many years ago (1990 or thereabouts), my mother, my brother and I were on our summer holiday in Durham, staying with my Aunt and Uncle and our cousins.
We went to a lovely outdoor recreation centre, where my cousin went roller skating (she was very good) and my mother and I did some putting, at a special golf course, where there was real grass, but only greens, so that driving wasn't part of it.
I greatly enjoyed it, and hope to do it again some time. It was so relaxing (it helped that the weather was that lovely summery post=rain clowdy), and we chatted so well, while putting.
I hope to go putting again some day. I can hearitly recommend it, as a therapeutic pastime, even if you hate golf
