"The government claims the cuts are unavoidable because the welfare state has been too generous. This is nonsense. Ordinary people are being forced to pay for the bankers' profligacy. An alternative budget would raise revenue by increasing tax for the rich, plugging tax loopholes, withdrawing troops from Afghanistan, abolishing the nuclear "deterrent" by cancelling the Trident replacement.’-" Tony Benn, President Coalition of Resistance
There is an answer to our current economic problems. We just need to stop spending money on the wrong things. Its pretty simple, I don't know why people in charge are being paid such large amounts of money but look like they couldn't handle a simple family budget. Bankers and their bonus', war, and continued bomb making is a luxury that we cant afford? Why haven't they just sat down with a notebook and a pencil and worked it all out, just like we all have to do when realising that we have more going out than we have coming in.

Bansh let me know if spending the country's budget wisely has a chance of ever happening. As I shall need to purchase warm clothing, ski's, ice skates and a thermos flask for my coffee, as Hell will be in danger of being frozen over! Totally agree though it's not the money itself, but what it's spent on that is the real issue regarding Politics throughout the World. Sadly so much of it appears to involve reducing the population rather than helping it survive. CWL

I just need the opportunity, but trust me, the world acccording to Banshee would be a much fairer and equal society to live in. I would start with the basic concept of a world without borders. Everything from there would naturally flow.

You've hit the nail on the head CWL - reduce the population! It's only a matter of time before the oil and gas runs out, then we'll be up the proverbial creek sans paddle!!!

Skint- we already drink re-cycled piss. Where do you think your water comes from? Yes people "wander through", so it might as well be a world without borders, much more honest and upfront wouldnt you say?

Ann, sorry but I think that CWL actually said "sadly" when referring to reduced population. I dont think he was actually advocating that as a policy.
