Noticed something this season particularly.............We have several 1st team players who wont go in for 50/50 tackles, and pull out. This has and could hurt us in matches, obviously dependent on the situation. Main offenders Gutierrez(particularly),Santon,Ben Arfa and Raylor(not yesterday) (I admit that Jonas agitates the fluff out of me in everthing he does bar running) Anybody agree?

Agreed...of course, on the flip side, we could be left with everyone tackling like Tiote (sounds like a good name for a Newcastle-based punk band)...which is nice, I mean, thanks for the hustle and grit...but we'd also have half the squad suspended booted away for persistent infringement...
We definitely need better balance...there are too many times where the ball is given away easily and we throw our arms in there air like the bigger kid at the playground took our toy and stomped off while we're left there holding our stones...we'd rather stomp around and complain "It's not fair!" than actually do anything to repossess...
Jonas is the biggest offender...but what's the cure to that?

Immediate thoughts are........off to the glue factory. ...I understand your point, but am forced to live in the reality that that simply will not occur...to me, it's a philosophical switch that Pardeaux would have to initiate... ...some on this board may not think too much of Sir Alan (depends which side of the bed magpie wakes up on, really), but he surely sees the same things we do...he seems content with it, I presume because his focus is elsewhere... Don't take any of this to be disagreeable...it was driving us nuts at the 4 Courts yesterday, especially with Jonas setting up Villa's goal...but I just feel like these players are responding to AP, which leads me to believe he's "okay" with the way they're playing...unless he's just convinced himself the our last 6 points were result of good form...in which case, I'd start to be concerned...

Canny your feelings towards Jonas probably come more from watching the game than playing it. On the viewing side I agree he can be as frustrating as hell. Yet if I was playing he is a god send on occasions and a wonderful outlet when things get stretched. He had more time on the ball than just about any other Toon player in that last twenty minutes. Okay he possibly didn't hurt Villa much with it, but by the same token they couldn't get the ball off him either wiithout resorting to fouls. Oh! I also think we are safe from the Mayan prediction and did someone steal Obertans boots after the Blackburn game? CWL

CWL The BBC reports a Kilroy Buffington was seen walking the streets of Newcastle hoisting a sign that read, We're 5th in the league. The end is near!

Supermac, are there many Mag supporters at the 4 Courts? Very few here in the Pennsylvania Alps. If I go anywhere local that's showing footie it's full of Manure pukes and even worse Reds supporters. Feel all alone with my Blue Star kit on.
