The government are thinking about changing the law so that if you have a motor vehicle you must have it insured weather its on the road parked on your drive or in your garage in other words if your not insured the police can come along and seize your pride and joy and crush it. They claim it will prevent accidents and deaths by uninsured drivers

As I cant even drive a dodgem in a straight line, I would have to say that I think every car whether on the road or not should be insured, even if it isnt driveable!

In what scenario would you have a car without insurance??? Even if it is not drivable, it should be insured against fire n theft surely?

To me sensible people don't drive their cars uninsured, if it's locked in your garage what harm is it doing. If they took more time to catch some of these Twockers there might be less accidents on the roads. I don't agree with what they want to do Nick.

It won't really be a problem, all you have to do is put a SORN on it (Statutory Off Road Notification) and nothing will happen!

No Ann the intention is to do away with sorn so theres no loop hole to squeeze through Kit what if you have to work abroad your vehicle wont be used for the duration your away but under this proposal you will still have to waste good money on insuring it the same goes goes if your ill our hospitalised No me and my cynical mind say this proposal is to help out our governments rich insurance pals who have taken a hammering with insurance claims through the weather etc

Its gonna make no difference whatsoever to the people who drive illegally.Lads pay a few quid for a scrapper car-drive it round for a couple of days without licence,Mot or Insurance do a few jobs then ditch the car.Ive bought cars for fifty quid before now and some of em have gone for less. Should point out my cheap cars were insured etc-but they didnt come with much more than a few days MOT or tax-had to do that myself and pay for repairs etc-but still was cheaper for me than a new car. But a group of lads say chipping in say a tenner each could buy a car and make a profit driving round high as kites scrapping and robbing for a couple of days. Most people I know using their cars for legal means tend to be legal-running a car is costly and insurance is the one thing you do want. But if its parked up safely then why should you pay for insurance? Another money making scheme that makes the legal drivers pay for the illegal ones. I cant see how it will change a thing
