Tescos, HMV, Game to name a few have seen their profits fall at a time when they should have been making a fair bit and it's only going to get worse as February is supposed to be one of their worst months, well if they cut their prices and stopped trying to rip people off with false sales they wouldnt be in this mess, nearly all the shops do it even big store like ASDA, at ASDA i bought 3 fleece blankets before christmas at £5 each they are now on sale still £5 each they are trying to say they were £7 they also have small tvs £119 before christmas now on sale at £119, it's my sons birthday the end of this month and he said about 6 or 7 month ago he wanted a PS3 for his birthday so ive been looking at them for the last couple of months now seeing what the best deals are, both Game and Game station have ones with games they were £219 they now have £30 off but they are still £219, there seems to be no such thing as a sale now just a sale sticker, if you look at a lot of the other big stores Comet, Currys, Argos etc they will have thing that say save X ammount but checking the previous price you will see it was only at the higher price for about a month leading up to christmas or new year, rip off ba****ds the lot of them, Greggs made a profit but that did not surprise me, Chavs still have to eat and they get quite hungry when shoplifting for christmas presents.

Coming back to Sainsburys and their profits for a moment-had an interesting conversation with a couple of petrol attendants this evening whilst filling up. They were on duty for a few hours after the shop shut. Seems like they operate a similar system to the NHS. If you previously worked for the old Safeway your terms and conditions are protected and you are paid an enhancement for working Sunday hours-unsocial hours. If you joined after the take-over you dont get that-its happening within the NHS TOO. So basically you have two lots of employees doing the same jobs paid different rates on a Sunday. So should people be paid more for unsocials or not. Just wondering what peoples opinions on this are

I think they should be paid something extra for working unsocial hours. In my case when working at my main job this was recognized by our union, and an unsocial hours payment was negotiated and integrated into our salary. In some cases, when workers perhaps one week, work normal hours then jump to working night shift......in other words, irregular working, this should be paid as a "one off" weekly/monthly payment.

most shops and stores pay the same rate of pay for Sundays as they do for Mon to Saturday as it is now seen as a normal trading day, was down the Metro centre today there are loads of shops that have closed down, Mother Care has closed so has The Early Learning Centre, F1 Racing, a couple of shoe shops, a shop that sold gadgets and puzzles, and a couple of clothes shops and a toy shop that opened a couple of months before christmas.

Sadly the more the unemployment rises the more liberties with their workers. Sometime you don't know if outsourcing and temporary short term contract are a necessary measure to keep the company afloat, or is it profiteering and exploitation.
