A few days back my youngest was offered the chance to visit Mexico with his friends family during the Summer-it would be out of the question for us to be able to afford to take him. After taking the appropriate medical advice and after having a near nervous breakdown trying to raise the money for the flight its all go from here and he is so excited-my kids have a great interest in the country so for him its kind of the trip of a lifetime. Which got me thinking about where Id love to go if I had the chance. There are three places I have always wanted to visit. Japan-theres just something about the place that draws me. Egypt-for as long as I can remember Ive wanted to see the ancient pyramids for real. The Grand Canyon-I think it looks truly awesome and I'd love to see it. I was wondering if anyone else had places they would love to visit-or have indeed visited

Keep the image you have of the Pyramids in your head.
But don't go.
You will be massively disappointed.

as you know ive wanted to go to Japan as well ive talked about it often enough,, hopefully will get there one day, would also like to see the Grand Canyon and a visit to Newyork, would also like to go to Germany the countryside part, and Austria is another place id like to go to, the pyramids of Egypt no, i think this is sacrilege they are burial sites and should be left alone, imagine how you would feel if someone from abroad came over and started digging up your relatives to have a look.

I dont want to actually see the mummies skint Its just that they do look magnificent and it fascinates me as to how they were built. But totally agree about the grave robbing aspect. Ive seen that mummy they have in the Hancock thats been there for donkeys years-when I first saw it as a kid on a school trip it really spooked me and even then it felt wrong to be gawping at it. Took the kids there a couple of years back and the poor soul is still there

I presume we are talking if money was no object? Peru, Fiji or any of the South Sea islands, Patagonia, Antarctic (if that's the one where the penguins are, the Arctic if not ) in fact if money was no problem, you'd not see me for a few years, I'd just spend it travelling!

Good for you shadow, this a great opportunity for him grab it with both hands.
As for Egypt You'll love it. Beautiful hotels, lovely people. Cario is a interest and fascinating place, and the Pyramids and valley of the Kings are mind blowing.

New York and Bhutan (small country near the Himalayas) among many other places....just about anywhere really, they all have their attractions. I'll give Afghanistan a miss though....one or two or three or........several countries no go areas for me! Great for your son to go to Mexico though, Shads......it would be near the top of my list!

We went there for our honeymoon Jazz and I loved it-a resort up on the North West-well I say resort-more like the hotel, beach and a few tiny tavernas-but so lovely and peaceful as well as friendly-would love to go back. Before that I went to Lesvos-what a beautiful place that was-outstanding scenery and still virtually untouched by tourism-the place we stayed in-Petra-was just so friendly and the views were stunning-we explored much of the Island on foot or by bike-as well as boat excursions and coach trips-if there was anywhere in Greece I would choose to take my family its there
