What do people think? I was interested in the North East News and in them asking local people if they were going to watch the film. I hated Thatcher and all she done, and stood for. but I am open minded enough to want to see the film to see what its about. Its not gonna make me a Thatcher fan, but i just feel that she was significant in our recent history, and so I want to see another "take" on her as a person. It would be like watching a film about Jack the Ripper. Doesn't mean you admire him or what he done, just that you want to look at some background to it, being a well known part of history.
Incidentally I was particularly amused at the quote from a rather young local woman who said that she admired Thatcher for being a "strong woman". ;D ;D

I haven't been to the pics for about 20 years But I'll certainly watch it when it comes on the telly. The bits I've seen it looks like a good film, and Meryl Streep deserves an Oscar for her performance.

Id quite like to see it. I wonder if it will reflect the terror I felt being a teenager and worrying about the nuclear war I thought would happen thanks to the Star wars programme and the special relationship with Ronald Raygun

what a load of crap im sure just like those who went to see the Kings Speech you will be bored sh**less, ive seen a few clips of it and to me Meryle Streep was a wrong choice it was like Thatcher and Ann Robinson mixed together, the accent and way she spoke was nothing like Thatcher, all i could think of every time ive seen those clips is it's Ann Robinson with a Thatcher hairstyle.

I have no intention of watching the film. Over many years whilst she was in power, I couldn't avoid watching her right wing patronising control freak bull s*it. Why on earth would I want to see more.

Another film that sounds a corker is War Horse. Speilberg was on Breakfast this morning talking about it, and they showed clips from the film. I had a lump in my throat just watching the clips! It looks like a "two boxes of tissues" film!

I think Britain was betrayed by Thatcher then Blair. And we will never recover. I'd have thrown them both in jail for crimes against the State.

reading in the news about the Thatcher film theatres saying it was a sell out, BUT most of the replies to this from people who went said the theatres they went to see it were just about empty, only a couple said the theatre they went to was packed but these replies were most probably from theatre owners, one person said it was 99.9% silent from start to finish and it was half way through the ending credits when people realised the film was over and then started to leave, a lot of people looked sad as they left and had tears in their eyes, how do i sum this up, 99.9% silent because there was hardly anyone else there, started to realise the film was over half way through the ending credits because they were just waking up after been bored into a coma, looked sad and had tears in their eyes as they left, probably just ralised they paid a load of money to watch a pile of s**t, War Horse looks a little better, this is more of a war movie but with a horse.

It might be that I needed to concentrate more on it-I was trying to do two things at once-Ive got the Hurt Locker to watch on dvd too but its getting the time to sit quietly and watch it properly.
Or getting to use the tv for that matter-the lads dropped off early tonight so for once I could watch something but I had a couple of other things to do at the same time
