The most stupid shop assistants i have found work for PC World, hardly any of them know much if anything about computers and their sister shop Currys i found out today are just as bad, ive been meaning for a long time to replace my broken down surround sound or home cinema as they are now known so off i went to Currys who after checking on the net had the best prices, i looked at an LG model and an assistant came up to me and said can i help you sir, yes i said and started with something simple and asked if it had an optical input, ill just check he said and went off to a computer to look it up after watching him try to get it up on the screen for about 5 minutes i realised he did not have a clue how to use the computer and pointed him in the right direction, sadly it did not have an optical input, so i pointed at some other models at the side of the screen instead of clicking on them he took the long route going back to the start screen and typing the model name in, after a while and failing to help me he said why dont you have a look at some of the other models on display and if you need any help ill get another fellow who knows more about these, i stood there thinking why did he not just get this other fellow in the first place and why did he ask if he could help when he new sod all about the systems they have, in the end without any help from an assistant i got a Panasonic system with optical input plus they had just reduced it by £50 although they had probably put it up by that much last week .

Aye, you'd think a company like that would have their staff trained up to give customers all the details wouldn't you? It's about time a more "customer orientated" firm sprang up to rival those two juggernauts of the computer firms. Have a feeling that the people in the "Apple" store will be up to speed on things that they sell.

Yes we had occasion to visit those two shops on Boxing day looking for a lens cleaning disc for the PS3-and not a productive visit at all.The guy in PC World knew they didnt have one because his colleague had apparently been hunting for one for another customer a few days before-we were then advised that actually they didnt sell them any more So off to Currys-the guy in there did know they didnt sell em but directed us to Homebase or the toy shop-Homebase had nothing and we didnt even bother going to the toy shop-instead tried Comet-two shops up from Currys-strange he never mentioned them -and got one straight off-after the manager had a good shout at the assistant in front of us that is.I hate going into any of these electrical shops-the sales assistants are far too pushy and drip insincerity.

hope you did not pay too much for the lens cleaning disc, Game were selling them for £19 but you can also get them in poundland, you should have tried Halfords before Comet im sure they sell them as nearly all cars have cd players in them and im sure they would have been cheaper than Comet.

But don't you think that anyone who knows quite a bit about computers etc, would be working in IT rather than PC World? They are probably only on NMW, and don't know more than the average 15 year old. Those with knowledge would be working in small shops, or the IT section of a big company. Sometimes you can strike lucky and get someone who knows what they are talking about - mind, everyone knows what they are talking about apart from me!!!

my son passed 3 IT courses and a computer engineer course and has all the certificates to prove it but works on security at ASDA, he applied to PC world when looking for a job and they did phone back but he was out at another interview at the time, they told me he was exactly what they were looking for and would call back later but they never did, it's PC world/Currys personnel department who are to blame there are people out there with computer or electrical goods knowledge but they seem to let them slip by, i will say one good thing about Currys though they have never depressed me like the girl in Comet, all i wanted was a washing machine and she started on about how all washers are no good now and they now have an 80% breakdown rate if you expect it to last more than 4 years dont, after 5 mins talking to her i was depressed so i decided to go to Currys and left the cloud of depression in Comet, i know a lot of stores do employ people will little or no knwledge about their products but at PC World/Currys this applies to 99% of their staff.
