Not a great deal apart from the cost of food in general going up......I've never, relatively speaking had a lot of money in my life, and like a lot of people have always been careful and tried to manage as best as I can. Feel much sympathy for people with young families.....it must be hard trying to make ends meet. We are both retired and I have a Summer job so with a works pension and the OAP we aren't doing too badly.

It's only the price of food and petrol that really affect us. We don't get any benefits, so the cuts there will have no impact, services like community halls etc won't affect us either as we don't use them, but for those who do I think it's shocking! Strange how 41 million was "found" for the opening ceremony of the Olympics though!!! We can never top Beijing so pointless trying IMO the whole thing is a complete waste of money that we cannot afford in the first place!!

Ann, i used to love me football and to a lesser extent the athletics. I used to until Money became the major the be and end all, the money mountain at the top of the premier league etc etc...
And yes, the whole Olympic games thing just makes me feel sick as the money spent and the people and politicians involved spinning a wonderful web of glory and hyperbole. The general public only too aware of the self interest from the afore mentioned. A flimsey front for the like of Lord Coe and the rest to line their pockets. The sites legacy only provides more bull s*** jobs in the shape of retraining for locals in the Tesco department.

As regards this thread I think it is a terrible indictment on society when poorly paid people (often young) are worrying themselves sick about transport costs paid out to get to work. It's bad enough trying to find a job but if you manage to get one you then often have to pay a fortune getting to it!

the special needs school my 2 youngest attend had to cancel the christmas disco due to cuts in funds, it's not the first time funding has been cut for children with disabilities the clubs that normally run during the holiday periods have all been cut, it's ok for the kids in other countries though as our stupid goverment send billions abroad so they can have things like clog dancing lessons.

More details shortly Thats got absolutely nothing to do with the thread that you started and I'll give you a warning now. Do not start a thread on here asking people to open up about real hardships they may be experiencing then throw in something that has absolutely nothing to do with the original topic.

It has definetly affected me personally. After being in my current Local Authorrity role for the last 7 years, We have been told that we each have to re-interview for our jobs. Out of 60 of us they need to loose 20 of us. It means everything relies on how we each present on the day of interview, regardless of our individual work record to date. It is putting us all in the same role, up against each other. I know that I do my job well, but I may not have a job by January. I am worried sick about it, but have decided to get through christmas and put it out of my mind. My interview is in January. I carry on with my work and do the best for people, but can not make any long term plans because I may not be there next month. I am the main wage earner in our relationship and we made financial committments based on our current income. If we loose my income we will be f***ed.

Aye, and I bet the 40 left will still have to do the work of 60!! That's what they seem to forget with all the cuts, the work load is not cut!!

That's a terrible thing that's happening, Bansh....apart from the obvious worries of maybe losing your job/income etc it must have an awful effect on those involved in the interviews causing possible division among the staff etc. Hope everything goes well for you.....interviews can be almost like a lottery. What a farce this government is!

No I wasnt being harsh-as someone seriously struggling I was not excited or interested in that post which was completely off topic.I know you can do witty posts and I know you can do pretty interesting ones when the mood takes you-by the same token you can often do posts that have no relevance to the original topic as you did there-on this occasion I dont think it was appropriate-people have real fears they are expressing on this thread-silly posts like yours seem only there to amuse yourself and contribute nothing to the very serious discussion people are trying to have
