This weekend the Premier League returns to action following the break for Euro 2012 Qualifiers................... The Toon head off down South for a visit to Loftus Road, home of QPR for a Monday Night special.................... The game has a number of attractions, however most of the added spice will probably come in the form of one Joey Barton making his home debut. Will Joey plus other new boys Shaun Wright Phillips, Anton Ferdinand and Luke Young get one over the ex Newcastle midfielders former team mates? From a Toon perspective the closure of the transfer window just brought more groans of dissatisfaction from the Geordie faithful with the none arrival of a promised Goal scorer. How much that comes back to haunt us only time will tell. However on a positive note Davide Santon joined from Inter to play at full back and is expected to make his debut in this game. I have deliberately avoided saying which full back position as to be honest it could be either of them! That said I expect it will be on the left side despite him being another right footer like Ryan Taylor. Whether that means Ryan will move across to the right flank to replace Danny Simpson is another talking point. So do The Mags have what it takes to continue their unbeaten run and maintain the great start to the campaign? Will Shola return up front or will APee keep faith with a combination of Best, Lovenkrands or Ba in a 4 4 2 formation or possibly instead go with a five man midfield? Will Joey see Red? What do you think? CWL

I didn't realize they'd recruited SWP and Young - two not too bad players on their day.

Good at one time but possibly past their sell by date now................. QPR also signed Armand Traore and Jason Puncheon during a frantic period of late dealing during the transfer window. It will be interesting to see how many of them make a start against us. May well work in our favour............. CWL

CWL - SWP ran circles around Raylor last night. Why wasn't Santon playing, do you know? Most of their new signings made an appearance but it hardly worked in our favour. We cancelled each other out since neither us nor them have Premiership strikers. At least Lady Luck is with us for once. Perhaps she's our new number 9

Not read or heard of any reason so far why Santon did not play................. I did think he would get a run out at some point last night as Ryan Taylors days are definitely numbered at left back. If Lady Luck is our new number nine then she is doing a grand job stopping the ball from hitting the back of the net..................... for us and the opposition. I'm also convinced you could not make a decent centre forward even if the good bits from Stroller, Ba and Best are combined together. CWL

CWL Throw in Løvencrap and the CF in question wouldn't be able to speak Danish either. Canny - Mashley would say everything was foreseen and part of the 5 year plan

I feared the worst at HT SWP and Taarabt left our midfield & defence standing and if it wasn't for Bothroyd forgetting his finishing boots we could well have been 4 nowt down Besty tried but wasn't getting any service, Tiote did well but picked up ANOTHER NEEDLESS YELLOW!! We can ill afford the suspensions No idea either why Santon didn't get a chance...........

Heard today APee didn't want to throw the lad straight in as the QPR match had enough about it with Joey B and the other newbies taking centre stage. Santon did however play this afternoon for 70 minutes in a 6 - 0 victory for the reserves against Norwich. Good performances from both him and Danny Gosling who scored twice. CWL
