I was remembering when I was a girl and thinking about all the varieties of dolls we had with the most ridiculous names.Apart from Tiny Tears they have all long gone now but a few that sprang to mind-and yes I had em all -were Katie copycat,April showers,Tippy tumbles, and Alice in Wonderland.A more recent addition-which I didnt own as I was a bit old by then, was the immortal baby wee-wee.

I kinda liked, as a kid, the twisted rip-off of the horrid Cabbage Patch Kids - Garbage Pail Kids, not sure if they went any further than trading cards, but they were pure gross humour Watched the top 50 toys over xmas, shocked me how many I had (of the lads stuff naturally!), Evel Knievel stunt cycle got a bit of a rip but I loved mine, wore the cogs out on the winder My old Million Dollar Man figure is still in a cupboard at mums, battered and worn, but still there.

You should hang on to them Wile, they'll be antiques soon Mind, when you see what dinky cars go for............................. I see them sometimes on Antiques Roadshow and some of the prices are unreal!!!! But they are like new and still in their boxes, which I always think is quite sad, as it means no one has ever played with them

::)I still have my doll from the fifties. The walkie-talkie doll - the thing of the day. Poor soul, she's lost her voice and can't really walk well - lost her hair - but what can you expect at her age?

I was absolutely obsessed with toy soldiers, mainly the red coated, busby wearing guards regiment type....also the ones that stand outside Buckingham Palace....Blues & Royals I think they're called. I had loads, complete with a fort with drawbridge......I can picture it now. Also a small military cannon that fired matchsticks....if you used "live" matches & hit a rough stone wall they "exploded" in a satisfactory burst of flame! Strangely, my sister who lives now in Australia collects model soldiers made by "Brittons" I think.....they can be expensive to buy. Good shop in Grainger Market that sells them....I'm often tempted to go in to look around.....always gaze in the window when I'm up there.....2nd. childhood?!! ;D

It was Britains toys Jazz.
We used to have loads of the farmyard animals and a few soldiers-the busby wearing ones on horses-as well. They sell for a canny price these days-I was looking at them on EBAY a while back.

Aye, you're right there Shadow, I can remember having a Coronation Coach from the 1953 coronation....I think maybe Dinky Cars made it but it could have been Brittons, anyway the thing would be worth a fortune now. If only everybody hung onto their toys....deposited them in the bank for a "long term" investment! I remember telling my kids to keep some of their "better" toys as "they may be worth something in years to come"......however toys are to be played with & in hindsight only people with huge houses/storage room could hang on to everything. It seems "things" now are more valuable than currency, especially when you watch the Antiques Roadshow & suchlike. I'm off to hunt down my old Rupert Bear annuals!!

I know. Years back my sister and I asked for and were given for Christmas some Lone Ranger figures and their horses and accessories. They were action man sized and the horses were fully articulated. My sister had the Lone Ranger, his horse Silver and this Chuck Wagon loaded with accesories. But they got well bashed about I got a black horse called Bandit-which I adored, and some Mexican rider-Butch Cavendish .And Bandit was kept boxed and immaculate-never bashed about but admired from afar.Anyway-when I left for College in London I left my toys in the care of the parents On my return-the toys had been given away or dumped I saw an exact replica of bandit go last year in its box for sixty five quid. And worst thing is I nearly bought it cos it was my all time favorite toy

Couldn't shut the b****y thing up so chucked it out, but it kept coming back! Eventually gave it to a friends Grand Daughter, she is coming up to 18 months old. Never heard another word from the doll, Kids eh! CWL
