Okay folks here is the news you have all been waiting for..... Slight variation this season in the format of the Predictions League. This time instead of all points being derived from a single Newcastle fixture there will be four further games scorelines to predict, with points awarded as follows... Points and Scoring Correct Result (Final Score) 3 pts = Fully correct score i.e. correct outcome, exact scoreline which implies correct GD 2 pts = Correct outcome, not the exact scoreline but the correct GD (i.e actual scoreline 2 - 1, prediction 3 - 2, GD +1) 1 pt = Correct outcome (Newcastle Fixture Only i.e a win, draw, loss) 3 pts = 1st Newcastle Goal Scorer in Newcastle Fixture Only Prediction Submission Deadline All predictions must be submitted no later than Friday 12 midnight (UK Local Time). For example: Arsenal v Villa, Mackems v Fulham, Birmingham v Brighton, Boro v Blackpool, Citeh v Toon Simply cut n paste fixtures from my post each week on the League thread then post as below with your respective scorelines and Toon scorer... Arsenal v Villa = 3 - 1 Mackems v Fulham = 1 - 1 Birmingham v Brighton = 2 - 1 Boro v Blackpool = 2 - 0 Citeh v Toon = 2 - 1 Cisse for the Toon Any difficulty drop me a PM or shout up on the HWGA Predictions League thread. Lights Oot!  Sooooooo...if we predict Newcastle to not score, thereby naming the Toon Scorer as "No One" and they don't score...is that 3 pts?  |

This idea is my attempt to build some optimism into the competition by retaining a free chance in any game to gain some points from a positive outcome by a Toon player while also removing one of the issues of last season when half or practically all the team were named as a bonus scorer. That said I can open it up to players of both teams if that is deemed to be more appropriate starting with West Ham this coming weekend Lights Oot! |

I like what you've done...wasn't questioning that...just wasn't sure if choosing Toon to get shutout was similar to picking their first goalscorer of the match...no real preference on choosing between first Toon scorer vs. first match scorer...I have a hunch we'll need to keep things as Toon-positive around here as possible! |

Mac I welcome the feedback. May not always act on it, however a bit of fine tuning as the season goes along can't be wrong if it makes being involved that bit more fun. Still early days so I think giving members the option to choose either a home or away scorer is a good thing to have and probably makes it more interesting should anyone wish to take a gamble on the three points up for grabs. As for remaining positive about The Toon that could be a greater challenge than winning the HWGA league. Lights Oot! |
