Its becoming more and more difficult finding things to occupy the kids during the school holidays-particularly as they get older and walks in the park etc are not quite so appealing to them anymore. We had a lovely day out today-fruit picking near Corbridge but guess its a sign of the times that whereas once it was free, apart from the cost of the fruit, now theres an admittance charge Only a pound but even so...I'd still recommend it tho-especially now-we got some absolutely gorgeous strawberries, plums and blackberries-I feel a jam making session coming on tomorrow.Theres a lovely shop there also with farmers produce, fresh veg, lots of gardening stuff and plants too-plus a nice cafe when you need a rest. Im also lining up some trips to the coast-probably South Shields-and may venture further afield. Before it gained some notoriety Rothbury was recommended-if anyone has other suggestions they would be gratefully received!!!

buy a couple of cheap rods and take them fishing, it's free to fish in the sea and if your lucky enough to catch anything there is nothing like a bit of fresh fish.

you dont have to kill the fish if you dont want to just throw it back, or if your as lucky as me you wont catch any , i must be getting soft as i get older, i felt sorry for a ready cooked thai chicken that i bought from ASDA yesterday.

If you're ever down in Tynemouth with the kids, Shads and I'm on duty at the pier I'll give you a guided tour of the lighthouse....nice views! Parking is no trouble...there's a private car park.
