looks like rapists have found an excuse that will get them off, never heard of a sleepwalker making themselves a cuppa, i dont know how this guy got off for a start he must known his stepdaughter was asleep on his bed before he got in and if he knew he suffered from sexsomnia he would have woke her and told her to go to her own bed, im with you shadow not believing one word of it.

I don't know enough about the subject, and I've never been troubled with it, but I find it difficult to believe someone could have sex without waking up......whats the fun in that. Some judges are so out of touch they might even get away with it. You never hear of women wondering into men's beds and having sex with them. Maybe it does happen but no man as ever complained.

2 of my sons have experienced extreme sleep walking. One having climbed out of the bedroom window to escape an enemy that turned out to be computer generated. Also my son was convinced one night that the inside fur lining of a jacket was a giant rat coming to get him. I can see how during an episode like this that it would be really terifying and "outside the norm." but then it still depends on what your "norm" is. Therefore surely sexual abuse would be outside of your norm, so I think your actual concientiousness would kick in. Wouldnt it?

Aye, it's a strange thing is sleepwalking (and talking). I had a few episodes of it when I was a lad....around 9,10,11 years old. Apparently a conversation could take place with me, with me having no recollection of it....told to "go upstairs and back to bed" would be obeyed promptly! A right little "Zombie" I was!

My sister sleep walked alot when she was a child-we often found her standing near the open front door or sitting on chest of drawers etc-with gentle encouragement shed be led back to bed. That is far removed from the things these blokes do.Ive heard of people doing things because in their sleepwalking state they believed they were in danger but raping a girl who is resisting, chatting and having a cuppa after-no sorry but its the most unbelievable thing Ive ever heard of-and funnily enough in recent months Ive heard this defence in three separate cases. Each one the bloke was freed.

Yes, I agree with you Shads....I think it's highly unlikely that someone could do that sort of thing without it being premeditated.....you would think some medical expert would be able to shed light on the likelihood of it happening but if they can't, well it's a great "get out" for rapists isn't it!

used to sleepwalk as a kid i would go around turning everything off tv, lights etc, and about a year ago i had a half hour conversation on the phone with a friend while asleep, about an hour later when fully awake my lass asked what my mate had phoned for and i knew nothing about it, so i had to phone him to find out what we had been talking about, ive known people send texts while asleep, but this sexsomnia nope i dont believe it.
