This has been going on for years.Private investigators hired by the sleaze papers. And I had to laugh-the person in charge of the NOTW at the time just happens to be a chum of Mr David Cameron. Now Im sorry but the media has been manipulating stuff for how long-making celebs out of no-bodies,destroying lives and showing what low lifes people can become in the chase for fame, money or reputation. And yet the masses buy into it. Our press is a disgrace as are those who buy this crap and keep it in business. Time to make a stand I would say but then again those hungry about Cheryl Cole,Katie price etc probably aint too bothered

The NOTW has been closed now, but I've no doubt it will raise it's ugly sleazy head in another form.

The NOTW has been closed now, but I've no doubt it will raise it's ugly sleazy head in another form. It appears that the newly registered title, THE SUN ON SUNDAY' is the new News of the World. I agree with Shadow about the masses being fooled into thinking they just have to have any reading rubish, personaly I would stop buying any newspaper but I cant, I have never ever bought on in my life. but the situation is dire, I wonder how many police are worried right now?

I may be simple or naive in these matters but wouldn't it be possible to create an "unhackable" phone.....I know that it would probably be only a matter of time before the hackers cracked them but maybe it would enable them to keep one step ahead of them? Or is it the end of privacy....if someone wants to find something out, they will and can do so with relative ease? Computers, emails, of course are another aspect of this situation.

There should be alot of police officers worried right now and a canny few politicians worried too IMO. However the thing that sickens me the most is reading all the reader comments on various newspaper and other sites condemning the News of The World etc but who was buying the rag for years then? We were-or the great British public were anyway. Where to start. Murdochs that entenched now that he can finish off one paper and potentially relaunch another-under the Sun name. Are we flipping stupid or what? ? Guess the Sunday Sun wont be an option mind

Nationalise the media to allow full and democratic freedom of discussion and decision-making 'Murdochgate', the News of the World scandal, is Britain's Watergate.

A crime has been committed. no one is supposed to be above the law no matter how rich or influential they are. lets stop pussying about asking them to attend MP hearings etc and just arrest them for the crime they committed. End of!!!!

Murdoch and his son have refused to attend anyway-too busy I believe Its funny because people have gone on about the gutter press for years and years but nothing was ever really done about the way reporters etc carry on.I know from personal experience with a national newspaper how they write what they want with scant regard for truth.I know from journalists who have tried to write decent articles about the pressure editors put on them to spice things up for a bit of sensationalism-its appalling-and yet look at the readership of the NOTW and The Sun-somebody was buying these papers.

Would be good to think that "the people have spoken" and that is why this has all blown up, but really it was because celebrities and influential people have spoken, that this is being dealt with. It pisses me off that ordinary people are ignored, but hey it doesn't matter now why it all blew up, just that it has. Just like MP expenses- they got away with it for so long because nobody knew, or those that knew never said anything. I hope this is the start of people getting pissed off enough to make a stand about this, and many other things that are not right in our society. May I suggest that indeed "the times, the are a changing."
