Today I went for a walk in the Rising Sun Country Park. While walking through the wood that they have there I came across a sort of notice pinned to a tree by the path. It was put there by the father of a girl/woman who had died of breast cancer. There was a photograph of the girl...very attractive. The note alongside it was from her dad saying that while out jogging he had broken down, standing, crying there by the tree. He mentioned that there was snow on the tree...suddenly a Robin appeared on a branch...the snow fell from the branch. This event made him think that somehow this was a message...perhaps of hope or love from her. It made him feel better. I had tears in my eyes reading it.....I walked on, a few steps....suddenly a Robin was in front of me on the path....stopped there for a while looking at me, then flew away through the trees. There was, strangely enough, hardly any bird life about at the time...just that one Robin. It made me think.

Does indeed make you think. Thanks for sharing that.

I hate to say this but robins are quite territorial birds and do hang about in the same place. My parents have a regular robin in their garden whether its winter or summer

Aye, Shads, I thought that, and wondered whether the father continued to go to that spot to perhaps feed the Robin and therefore if any human was around it would appear ready for food. Otherwise the place was in a fairly thick, mainly pine tree wood and, as I say, on my walk of a few miles I didn't see any Robins...in fact not many birds around at all. It was a strange moment!

They guard their territory and chase other birds off Jazz. There are times when my mothers garden is full of birds and on occasions its just the robin-hes the regular visitor and very reliable and dare I say it but distinctive Hard to tell one spuggie from another since they tend to be together but getting rarer by the minute

I couldn't resist putting this on here.....the reliability of animals and the unreliability of humans. It probably shouldn't be on this particular thread but, as I say, I couldn't resist! Robins have two legs but you get the drift! ;D

Robins have two legs but you get the drift! ;D Course it should be on here-its relevant to the discussion And would look a bit odd elsewhere. Look guys to explain something-just because a post contains a link to music it doesnt mean its gonna be automatically shifted to the music thread Or if it mentions animals to the nature thread for that matter. We do have discretion
